There is nothing wrong with having your opinions, but what burns me is the opinion that that having a GN makes you somehow superior and everything else junk. Granted, I wouldn't buy a Japanese Car, but I'm not about to bash something because I don't like where it's made. I also know those two Cobras it beat and I've personally witnessed the Blue one running 6.8s at our local non hooking dragstrip. (1/8th mile)

The other problem when someone types BUHAHAH 600hp Yeah right! It's also putting down the GN owner that believes it like he's a moron. There has been a lot of change as of late that I've noticed around here and it seems a little too much on the side of our sh*t don't stink.

Well said james...if people dont like the car, then thats fine. But fast is fast. Needless to say I will be rolling out in a week or so for some revenge, which i am 100 percent sure, I will not get! :)

When he is done beating all the fast street cars in his area maybe he can move onto other parts of Florida. Hartline has a nice little fast street car that is probably equal to most street buicks as the Evo is equal to most street Evos. I realize he has 2 more cylinders but I am sure he is much heavier. I would like to see that video also. Lets make it from a stop not a 40 mph roll. Yes any motor with a turbo can make lots of power. It is a cute ride all the same

I would like to remind yall that the car is set up for a 150 shot (max) too. And I hear his new (bigger) turbo will be here anyday....his goal is roughly 900 hp, and it still has all the niceties like A/C and P/S.....

Ya, I want to see the Hartline vs. Evo race. My money is on the Buick. :D Seriously, it's a fast car alright but I'm also curious as to how long it will last.

Sounds like this EVO is modeling itself after Martins killer EVO 8.
I could of sworn Martins 711whp was on the new GT42 turbo but I could be mistaken.

The only flaw I see with the EVO is the fact that the whp does not match up to the E.T. in comparison to even heavier rear wheel drive cars. The torque curve and extra drivetrain loss are probably hurting its E.T.

A 600whp EVO has probably the same E.T. as a 550 wtq GN + 300lbs. There are plenty of those around here.

All that matters is that it beats Mustangs  ;)

It's amazing how having to shift 4 or 5 times in the 1/4 affects your ET when running low 10's ;)

And for those of you talking about how weak the drivetrains are, its not like the stock TR drivetrain is any stronger. Trannies that start slipping at 400whp and axles that can snap at mid 1.6 60fts don't exactly scream durable.

yeah, but I have also heard of evos snapping at like 400-500 Hp, so...you know, put it against the hartline!! Ill put money if you could fit a TR engine into a evo it would absolutley destroy that evo....if the drivetrain could handle a TRs power.....flame me or say whatever, I think these cars are the best cars ever made.

or better yet.. go to a Mitsiu baord and crow about how fast BUICKS are and see what happens there to you..

great, think what you want, its a Lancer, have fun with it. YOu came here looking to call people names and such, thats why I said that. grow up buddy, go to the mitsu forums and rave about the car. Im not close minded, I just wouldnt drive a lancer, and a lancer is a rice rocket.

You guys sure some of you didn't follow me over here from the supra forums???? Once again, not picking a fight here, but all of those guys think there is nothing else but a MKIV supra period. I mean if you showed them 1400 rwhp buick, they'd be like well so and so made thaton his supra with less boost, blah, blah, blah.......... Guys, this is hilarious, why can we not just like and appreciate the time and effort to make anything fast. I mean we all know what it takes, blood, sweat, tears, and the money depends on how fast you wanna go. Like I said, I am not biased in the least, I own two last body style toyota supras, one 1994 twin turbo auto with just bolt ons, (still has the stock twins) that made 430 rwhp and 479 rwtq. and a 1997 single turbo (greddy T78 actually a 67 mm. wheel) that just dynoed 626 rwhp and 570 rwtq., I also have a stage powered buick that dynoed 789 rwhp and 834 rwtq. I don't think any of those cars are better than any of the other. I also work on both import as well as domestic cars N/A as well as boosted. I build a lot of fast cars in my free time (actually my hobby has turned into a second job) and I can appreciate what it takes to make 500 or even 600 WHP. I mean hell, I like anything that is fast. I've got a buddy with a late model cummins dodge with lots of parts that runs consistent low 13's high 12's I'd ride it in a heartbeat and shut some folks down on the street. All I am trying to say here, is why can't we just appreciate the accomplishment?? I mean this guy is making 300 hp./liter thats just shy of 5 hp/cu.in. If this isn't impressive in this aspect you should see what your Buick makes in those terms. How many people have a buick making 300 hp./liter or 5 hp/cu.in.???? Yet again, I love my buick, but impressive is impressive any way you look at it. Drew

Impressive is a totally subjective matter. Respect is not something that is earned, it is freely given. 600hp is good, but it's not like it hasn't already been achieved. Yes thats a quick car, but how many other quick cars are there, both foreign and domestic? I think the old hp/liter argument is pretty much pointless, it's just a number, total power is what actually matters.

I finally got a chance to catch that video. That EVO is evil. That thing must mph large. I would also like to see that race done from the dig aswell, but many people want to see who's car is faster. A real race is done out of the hole. But more time its driver technique then actual hp. But on the fly, its basically who makes more jam, wins. Driver doesn't play a big part in it like it would coming out of the hole. But needless to say that car is putting a hurting on alot of cars. Truely sweet.

If the guy has enough money to build a 600+ horsepower EVO, don't you think he would beef up the drivetrain too. Granted I am only going off of the information from a co worker. He has a 1st gen Talon tsi with alot of work done to it. I know he has alot of money (thousands) in his tranny(VR4 this, double syncs that). Just like a TR, the drivetrain has to be built to handle the motor.
I think if imports would leave the wings, stickers, and body kits off they would get alot more respect.

This thread is proof that isn't true. That car looks stock on the outside and makes over 600hp to the tires, yet you've still got all these guys with bolt on Buick's talking trash.

I keep hearing the reference to DSM's... the EVO isn't as weak as a DSM. If you guys would pull your heads out of your asses you might figure this out...

That car is friggin' sweet, IMO. Some of you guys are really narrow minded... I'd love to have an EVO or STI for a DD... Hell, even a plain old WRX (awd would be great around here). Only thing I would do is lose the boy-racer wing.

What can be so bad about a car with that much power, fantastic handling, a modern interior, and awd? Other than the enormous amount of $$$ put into it. Hey, whatever makes you happy. I bet any one of you guys would drive that car and exit it with a huge grin on your face.... :D

You guys sound like 98% of Harley riders, who think that any other bike on the road other than a Harley is a piece of sh*t, blind to the fact that nearly every other bike is better in every way (except the allmighty image factor).

TR's are great, but they're one trick ponies, and that's it.

*copied from another forum*

Evo has way better gearing stock for a roll-on ... It has a gearing-limited top speed of 162 MPH ... By comparison, the SVT Mustang Cobra has a gearing-limited top speed of 222 MPH ...

Power allows you to trade Force (Acceleration) for Speed (Top Speed) and vice versa through gearing ... Considering they're all about the same power and the Evo has significantly higher gear ratios, and assuming they never exceed 160 MPH, the Evo should win every time ... Also, the Evo weighs less furthering its advantage ...

No suprise that the Evo won ...

I am sure the drivetrain on that Evo is built. John Shepard builds very strong tranny's for the "weak" drivetrained DSM's. He also runs one in his race/street car that last I heard was running 8.60's in the 1/4, on a stock transfer case. That and the 5-speed on the Evo's is much stronger than a DSM's.
