While trying to get to the bottom of my idle smoke problem , i took off intake manifold. I dont have pn but bought it at NAPA. It is steel and comes with sealer. Anyway, it has the wrong shape cut out at egr area and essentially blocks it. Otherwise it fits ports perfectly...although im hoping there is a fault that may be causing the oil to draw in my intake. I bought a Felpro at the Zone and it seems same at ports but does have correct egr area. I gasket matched ported this intake to this wrong gasket and am hoping i took to much meat from port floors causing oil to leak in.

I have a victor rienze gasket, and i also have an oil leak, but that might be from the turbo....:( :(

Welp, my hands are greasy as i type because I have been trying to figure out this smoking as it relates to intake gasket. I see no mismatching problems. Even if this gasket is put on backwards, it would seal ports. I do , however see why egr did not work. This gasket has only a small port instead of needed open area on left head to feed in exhaust gas into intake. Come on gurus, how in the hell is oil in my intake with a good turbo, valve seals, pcv fine?!?!?!?. Haynesie, do you run egr?

yeah, i run the egr valve, i didnt install the gasket so i cant say that mine has a lack of a port, but what im gonna do tomorro it go down to my work and take a look at the gaskets that my store sells, and see if they have the same problem, where is the egr valve port supposed to be, im not exactly a mechanic and wasnt involved in pulling the intake last time i had a major problem.

Either they gave you the wrong year gasket, or it was boxed wrong?

The type gasket you installed is used on other Buick V-6 motors but do not remember the exact years.

I used this brand gasket on initial rebuild and egr did work....so , yes it could be wrong due to mis-boxed or wrong pn looked up.
Haynesie, just mash in your egr valve. Its on driver side of engine, round thiing between 1 and 3 runners. If engine stumbles , your ok. Mash in the open part on valve bottom while engin is idleing, itll slow/stall engine. What the wrong gasket does is block the square port on intake. Weird enough tho is that it has round holes that match the head egr ports perfectely.
