Hey guys,

Can someone educate the ignorant....... me...... I see some people saying they are running a "0 pump" converter...... and some say a "6 pump" (I think). What in the wide world of sports..... are they referring to?

I am about to order a vigilante for my 2004R in my '87 GN and need to know what is the difference so I can make an educated decision on what I need.

I really want a converter that stalls enough for a TE45A on a stock displacement engine. I currently am about to install a TE61 with a Garrett .63 exhaust housing. I need enough converter fotr this combo...... but want a converter that has enough for the TE45A too. I don't mind if I really have a little too much converter for the 61.... after all..... she will lock-up for my street driving (95% street).

Educate me please.

That's the way Precision rates their converters. A "0" pump stalls at 3000 - 3200. The "6" stall is higher but I'm not sure by how much. HTH
p.s. My "0" pump single disk Vigilante which has taken me to a best of 10.05 with a GT67, will be coming out in a couple of weeks. I can make you a pretty good deal on it.

I think I want a 5 disk.... or 7 disk unit.... I want to be able to lock it up and not worry about the converter clutch going out..... but I will keep it in mind that you are getting rid of one...... since my budget is not bottomless......

What converter are you going to?

I read in some posts .... people mentioning some modifications... to their trannys to make the lock-up part work correctly...... What are they talking about?

Precision explained to me that the "stall rating" on other companies converters is somewhat of a generic term. When you order a 3200 stall, its going to stall differently with your built motor and 45A than a stock motor with a TE-60. When you call Precision, they will ask for details on the car, especially turbo size, and they will tell you which pump you want to get the car to stall in the RPM range you are looking for.

I'm going with an Art Carr non-lockup. If you want to lock at the track then the multi-disk is the way to go. Although I was able to run 132+ with my Vigilante "0" pump without locking it. Good Luck.

Scott- What stall are you going with on the Art Carr N/L?

It's called an "N" code. I believe it's 3600.

Frank, Email replied to. Thanks.
