I have one of those pink converters - it is a single disk lock-up "Vigilante" 6-Pump Stall configuration.

Is it possible this thing could be the source of my trans "rattle"?

When I would put my car in gear, I would hear a rattle almost sounding like a loose inspection cover. I would then put the trans in neutral and it would go away.

This rattle also seemed to go-away if I was to power-brake slightly.

It was certainly annoying. Trans shifts and works "perfectly". I dropped the trans the first thing I noticed after I puller the converter off of the front pump almost was that it was rattling. I shook it, and surely, something's loose in there - maybe the lock-up disk?

I don't think it ever rattled like this before - that I can remember.

Should I invest some more money in this converter - or "SC" it in favor for something else?

Many Thanks !!!

So I was thinking that this converter is definately "rattling" and anoying to me, and if I put the selector in N it would stop, yet the converter is still rotating as it is connected directly to the flywheel - so - if the source of this rattle is indeed the torque converter, why is it that the rattle stops (or appears to stop) with the trans in Neutral?

No lOad on internals when in nuetral.......in gear frictions are applied and TC loaded

Just for laughs....did you happen to use stock length converter bolts when you attached it to the flywheel??

Ahh....good to know grasshoppa....as stock converter bolts are too long for the pink ones....

The Stator in the TC is what's rattling. In Park and Drive/Reverse with vehicle setting still, the Tran's Input Shaft is stationary, when in Neutral the Input Shaft is spinning.

Yet when my trans was in Gear, with the vehicle stationary - it would still rattle. Such a nice car and making such an anoying noise.

I think this guys video clip proves there's definately some loose shit in their converters:

Yeah, I should've added the Stator is freewheeling/spinning with TC when in gear & vehicle stationary.
I've read a few Posts where Precision will tell customers there's nothing is wrong with it. Odd some rattle & some don't. Has to be sloppy/excessive clearances.:(

Thanks for everyone's input.

I have decided to make a change. It only seems like a logical decision.
