Was just commenting the other day to my wife that we haven't received many viruses lately. Thought maybe the Klez virus had run it's course. Well, I come home today and have over 55 emails and 50 of them were viruses! Anyone else experiencing this? Noticed a few Buick names in there.

I haven't had any viruses in e-mails, but my work has been plagued with viruses for the last week. It infects the network and makes it difficult to access anything over the LAN. We can't even print! It is making some of these days extremely long

Thats funny, I was thinking the same thing the other day and hoping since the board is running off a different server now, that it was over. Just came in from the road and had 19 emails from 19 different buick guys all with the virus. I used to get them pretty frequently, but I dont ever remember getting 19 at once. Lucky it wasnt 50 I suppose.

GNFury - You need to get some antivirus software, run a live update, and configure it to scan all incoming mail. Especially the Pc you use for mail and this board. I'm behind a sonic wall, an exchange server running scanmail, and Norton is still catching some things. You have been warned!!

there have been several worm type viruses circulating this past week. Not KLEZ worms though. My office computer has been infected twice this week. Just had to download the fix from Norton and all is OK again. Still a PITA though...

Same here, I have gotten alot of messages with attachments from people I never heard of, even with a Buick something in the name. I just delete them

Ive recieved about 35 emials from various web addresses and people that i dont even know-

my norton antivirus has stopped over 15 viruses and i hope everything is quarantined-

i came home and was like WTF???????????

HOPE IT GOES AWAY SOOOOOOOOOOOON-

I know they are viruses because Norton is catching them. They all have the same message. "see the attached file for details" It is the W32Sobig.F@mm virus according to Norton. Over 100 of them today. Any other emails I got today were SPAM!

i got spam today also, ive never recieved it at my address EVER!!!

I was getting them saying, about your application, the movie, some other crap...

i even got one with username@turbobuick.com AND eightsecv6.somethingorother-

im sure its something to do with this site, but just wish it would go away SOOON!!

In case anybody doesn't know, if you use Norton/Symantec antivirus and it is beyond it's 1year of free updates, uninstall it and reinstall it. Don't enter the registration code from the last install and it will give you another year of "free updates". The difference between Norton Antivirus 2000, 2001, 2002, and 2003 is the base virus definitations and GUI. In other words, it looks prettier and works identicle once updated.

Yes it did have something to do with this site, and it was not spam. It was the virus we are reffering to.

Its the sobig.f virus. http://vil.nai.com/vil/content/v_100561.htm

Its currently at High Alert. I blocked this POS morning at work and just checked the tally and I currently have 27,000+ Messages sitting in quarantine. This is for my company of 1000 users.

Weeeee..... I have been on virus duty all freaking week. ENOUGH ALREADY!

Do they ever catch the a**holes that create these things???? Imagine if they put their talent to work doing something worthwhile.

Probably made by the same guys that make the anit virus software so they can sell more...

I have often contemplated the same thing, and don't doubt it a bit:(

Edit: To answer your question Mark, they do sometimes catch these a holes i.e. Kevin Metnik and the Melissa virus guy.

Setup a rule in your email to forward all these subject lines to the trash and you won't see them.

How much do you pay for Norton?
I could have sworn I paid $10 when I installed it on my last computer then it was $10/yr to keep it updated.
Now I see it for $45.. Is this the normal rate for it? What is the yearly update fee?

I still need to put it on my new computer.

Mark---I've gotten about 30 or 40 today so far, means a lot of customers have the virus already.

The ones pissing ME off are the "returned" e-mails, a lot of people are going to think I sent them the damn virus!

and on my dialup at work, it takes Norton about 15 seconds to find each virus, so it's a waste of time too!

Hope there's a "Hacker's Hell" when they die.....
