I am going to be taking the family (Wife and 2 girls 7 & 10) to Maui next week. Is there something that you would say is a must do either with or without the kids? We have been to Maui several times before and are staying in the Kaanapali area. We took a drive to Hana last time and it was beautiful but exhausting.
Mahalo.

We'll spend a good 1/2 day in Lahaina. If I recall there are a lot of funky shops and Banyon Tree Park was pretty neat. And the kids like eating when they can look out at the ocean.

Haleakala? Think the spelling may be off, it's a scenic area. If you're gonna do it, do it before dawn, if not it's blinding.
Iao Valley? Minature temples if I remeber correctly.
Did you have any guri-guri ice cream type treat for the kids...?

don't forget the manju ;)

I was thinking of going to the Iao Valley this time. Thanks.

Road to Hana. Check into it, but go all the way around. You won't regret it. Cows and dirt roads. The scenic view is spectacular. You will want to rent a SUV with 4x4 just in case. I think one of the biggest you can get is a Trailblazer type. The fine print on the car rental says your not covered on that side of the island in their vehicle. It's not that bad. Make sure you start "The Road To Hana" early in the morning. Go snorkeling. We stayed in Kannapali in July and it was nice. If your a Golfer save your money and go play the Blue course at Wailea unless the Plantation course is open now where they play the Mercedes Championship. A great Luau is Old Lahaina in Lahaina. You need reservations about $80 a pop. We took a trip to Oahu to see Pearl Harbor and that was cool and they do allow cameras and video cameras. That's an all day event though. If I think of more I'll jot it down. Have fun!
