I just installed the engine. The car has a rear mount battery. Can someone give me an overall idea of how the starter hooks up to the battery? How does the ignition fit in to the picture also? Sorry about this but I got the car without all this stuff so I'm kinda at a loss, usually I see how things work before I disconnect them but don't have that luxury in this case.

The pos. cable from the battery goes to the big post on the starter, there should be a purple (I think, for the key) wire in the harness that goes to the small post (if there's two small posts, the one closest to the engine) That's what starts the starter. With the batt in the trunk, make sure you run a BIG ground cable with the pos. cable so you can ground the system to the back of the head, next to the starter. That way it will turn over nice and fast. Grounding to the frame next to the trunk did not work with my car, turned over too Sloooow. Good luck;)

Is the purple wire supplying 12v or ground to activate the starter?
