I don't have a G-body, but unfortunately my B-body forum on gmforums disappeared, plus your cars have to be fairly similar...at least in this respect.
I have a 82 olds 88 with delay wipers and it has acquired some strange behavior. It wants to always run is "wash" mode, where both the wipers and pump will run until I pull the fuse. This only happens after the car has sat and has never occurred while driving (ie loose connection???). I've changed the pump/controls awhile back when I first bought it. I thought that perhaps this was bad again and got a replacement and it still does the same. So I got a wiper switch, found the harness and waited for it to act up again...it did and the switch made no difference.
I then pulled the whole motor assembly out of the car and looked at the internals behind the pump. It appeared as if one of the wires for the park solenoid had broken, fixed that (7 weeks ago). The wipers had been fine ever since, until today. I haven't pulled it apart again to see if the fix broke, but I figured I'd ask here for some more suggestions.
