Actually it was 14K and change, but the car was in MI so it had to be driven here, that why the mileage got so high so fast. Since I brought it home, its sitting in the garage. Cost me 24K, kind of high, but its pretty much flawless, he put new tires all around on it 2 days before I bought it, and I have all the original parts.
I dont plan on adding anything else to it.

Here's mine, pulley, tune & full (xpipe Magnaflow) exhaust, it put down 476rwh/490rwt, not bad for
2k$.. I'm also looking for another hot rod but I want a TR!

LS1/LS2 GTO

you say you are looking to spend 15k ish but a vette is out? why? this day & time you can find a 50k mile vette for that price, & there is nothing out there for the price that handles like a vette.

I agree, but between the insurance being high, I've always compared a Vette to a standard cab pickup truck, only you don't get the bed lol.

the insurance for our 03 VW is NO higher than our vette. also you would be surprised on how much you can fit in a vette. ;)

TrailBlazer SS. I have one as my daily with just a K&N and a Superchips handheld programmer and i love this thing. Decent gas mileage, very comfortable(in the front, back needs smaller people but not terrible). I pulled my GN on a trailer with it and was great.

OK, Guess I'll have to look into it. ;)

Which year model vettes?
I gave you rough prices and power on 05-07 C6s and 03-04 Cobras in my last post, and was going to include 97-04 C5 vettes with LS1 engine are much lower priced, but I don't have any experience driving them. I would guess $16 to $24k would get you a median priced and mileage vehicle. Check out corvette forum for vette prices and modular fords and svtperformance for the cobra prices.

And the last poster mentioned the TBSS. I was looking to sell my GN or trade for a TBSS last Dec, so I think they would be a good all around vehicle for winter or towing and fun. I drove my friends and it was decent, but of course it won't feel like the LS2 in a GTO or C6.

You can get a nice GTO in the $15k range right now. People are starting to realize that the GTO was a huge bargin and similar to the GN in terms of performance and luxury. They couldn't get rid of them as new cars, but used GTOs on dealer lots are starting to bring a premium already.

Well, I just got back from the track and there was an 03' Cobra with quite a bunch done, but it man was it fast. It ran 10.30's

I appreciate all the info everyone.

kirban 2 cents worth

Having read this post and having personally owned a 04 cobra, 05 gto, 05 corvette (currently have 2000 Vette fixed roof)

here is my opinion.

difference in the 04 cobra versus o3 is 03 I believe only had the grey suede seat inserts black was offered in 04....no other difference that I recall.

finding a unmolested 03-04 cobra may be tough...in the mustang world a wide variety of goodies are available...like being at walmart.

Same holds true for the Corvette (I own a fixed roof 2000 now)...A big plus with the vettes in the 6 speed version is it returns really good gas mileage unlike some of the other choices mentioned.

GTOs avoid 04.....they made several funky color interiors....cars seem to be hard on tires.....parts are unbelievably expensive body wise. For shear power they are great but be sure you are in love with their styling...no trunk space!

Vettes seem to be the best bargain...many have been taken care of....the rare ones is a 99 or 2000 fixed roof for runner to the 2001 ZO6....

I am told 2001 ZO6s used oil...so if you want a ZO6 jump to a 2002 model....they will run like 24 grand or better as a rule.

Whatever you decide...buy a stock one....same rules apply like with your Buick....less surprises buying a stock one over one that someone has modified and possibly run hard. A bargain today may not be a bargain after you own it...

kirban just my thoughts.....

You also didn't say or I missed it, how many are you planning on hauling in the car? Just you or you and wife, kids? If you need more room we just got a G8 GT with the 6.0 in it. LOVE the car but you are looking around 28-31 grand for it new. Just another one in the pot for you to think about. Go drive one before they are all gone off the lots though, you will be suprised ! Daniel

I agree with you guys...a nice GTO would be great!...or maybe a '70-'72 Chevelle SS...:D

Claude.

My brother wants a vette and his buddy wants to sell him his flawless garage queen 2003 dark green vert with the camel interior for $20 K. I told him to jump on it. I have no idea why he is hesitating.

I may have to go there and buy it just to piss him off.

Wish me luck. I'm heading out in the morning on a VERY long trip out west to pick up an 03' Cobra (if it's as nice as the pics anyway)

I'll let you guys know for sure when I get back. Be middle of next week.

Thanks for all the suggestions.

Funny, When I read the beginning of this thread, I thought 03 Cobra too! they are awesome! Like them more than the newest SC stang, and then saw many post supporting the 03 cobra. and then I just scrolled to the end and holy crap you got one. Great luck with it. I'd love a white one, I like the 5th gen zo6, but I much rather have the SC Ford motor. On the street the only think I've been beat by was stangs 90% of the time as well at the track. Not much else competes other than nitrous quenched vettes.. Ford's Rule. Buicks ROCK! Had to add that. LOL:biggrin:
