I just have a real quick question, I know that most scan tools are compatible with the 86/87 ecm only, I would like to change the ecm, but is it just that easy or do I also have to change some sensors? Or is there any scan tools that work with the hotair CPU's? I don't plan on switching to the 86/87 setup, just would like to see what she will do while retaining stock turbo, intake, heads, etc. so far I have gotten her to the low 14's. It has been fun but I would like a scantool to help me out a bit.

Thank You

Detail how to do it ... pretty straight forward. As far as support for your existing ECM ... several scan tools will support it:
* TurboLink (http://www.turbo-link.com)
* OTC4000 (sometimes the GSCA has a deal on them for about $500)
* AutoXray (available via Summit/Jegs for about $350 with the right cables)
* Diacom (about $600)

What Ken says is very true, but if you would like to burn chips for better performance it is really worth the upgrade to the 86 87 ecm. You can also get more from the readings. The car generally runs smoother with this upgrade as most of us have found out. If you have quesitons, let us know. I believe Caspers sales what you need to do this. Good times for a hot air.
