The unpainted part of the pedal was rusty when the car was still on the dealer's lot! 
I have a few in my pile if you need one, just cover shipping.

Bought my GN off the trailer in August of '87 with 1.3 miles on it. When the car came off the trailer the rear iron drums and rear axles already had surface rust on them.
