In the early 90's there were quite a few places that made these. They typically had a gear reducer that made the needle move and slower and a 145mph overlay over a stock cluster. Most of them made the odometer move slower also.
I have that 'option' in my car. Installed it a few years ago. Kirban's sells one that I think is the exact same. There is also another vendor, don't know who, that sells one that is not as 'busy' as this one, it looks a lot better, IMHO.
The only factory ones were round & on GNX's. And, you do not want the one to be used with a reducer. You want one that has been recalibrated & then the overlay installed.
Kirban's has them periodically for $135 + $8 shipping (no core)--& has one now indicating 86k mi or so. They're for replacement of 84-87 analog speedo units...
I just got my GN about 3 weeks ago, here is the one in mine.
And can anyone tell me about my guage pod on top of the radio pod? Who made these? I havent seen them for sale on any websites.
I am trying to identify all the mods to my car...thanks !
There was a factory 140 mph one used in the 84-85 anniversay Rivieras under GM part 25076576. It has long since been discontinued and is a VERY rare piece. This was a bolt in piece. The one you pictured at the top looks like a Kirban piece which comes with a speedometer reduction. It throws off the odometer calibration. To do it properly, the speedometer should be recalibrated by a speedometer shop. There are several places that sell overlays for the stock speedometer that make factory looking pieces.
