Wastegate Location

I recently purchased a Tial 44mm wastegate and TA headers. I am trying to position the wastegate using 1 7/8" SS pipe. I do not like the lack of room and the severe angle under the turbo to mount the pipe for the Tial. On the TA headers there is also a bung directly under the turbo flange; so that would have too be cut out. I was thinking of mounting it on the crossover pipe under the car on the passenger side. I was wondering if anyone has experience using this pipe for the wastegate.

That should be fine. That is where I intend to mount mine. Anywhere before the turbo should work.

Thanks for the feedback. It would be a much easier installation if it was mounted on the cross over pipe. That Tial 44 is a monster compared to my 38mm Lee Performance wastegate. I am also getting a 42-76 BB turbo and was thinking of having the flange mounted to the exhaust housing. I spoke to Cal and he did not like that location because it interferes with the air flow in the housing which seemed to make sense to me.

Jeff, if you put that monster wastegate in the cross over pipe, you are only taking back pressure from #'s 1,3,& 5 and you may get a different tune on that side of the motor. I know back in the day, it was good to run a deltagate in the cross over and the passenger side header, but that was only because of the lack of the sizes of the wastegates back then.
