wastegate solenoid

on the wastegate solenoide is 2 posts i know 1 gets little breather filter . and the othr one? is it avacum line if so to where .mine is not hooked up the car seems to be running fine the check engine lite does not come on . i was curious .

One port is a filter, the other is boost from the turbo. There should be a vacuum line off the turbo with a "y". One end of the "y" goes to the soleniod, the other goes to the wastegate actuator. Boost causes the actuator to open the wastegate (not vacuum). The solenoid opens to bleed boost away from the actuator (holds actuator shut). If the solenoid is taken out of the loop, and the line goes from the turbo to the actuator then the actuator is seeing all of the boost all of the time. You'd only get whatever boost is required to overcome the spring in the actuator - which is typically 10-12 PSI. Unless you have an aftermarket wastegate.......

thanks jim thet explains it i have adj wastewgate and separate boost value that the hose goes to.
