Hey guys, i was going to try and run some engine stop leak (GM coolant stop tabs) to try and stop a mild coolant leak from my RJC head gasket. Then i started thinking, what if that stuff in the system is bad for the BB turbo i plan to install in a few weeks?

Now i haven't installed the BB turbo yet, but the stop leak would still be in the system. I guess i could flush the system beforehand, but just was wondering what you all thought?? Do you think running the stop leak through the new turbo would hurt it?? Thanks in advance for your opinions :)

Not stupid but why would you want to try to patch a coolant leak? If it's leaking to the outside it's probably pushing cylinder pressure into the coolant system too...it might be a small amount but possible. Pull the heads and check for warpage on the deck and head surfaces. It's always better, in the long run, to fix the problem than to patch it.

I doubt it would be a problem, it's just like a water jacket with about 1/2" holes in it, if you keep it air bled and submerged in coolant at all times it shouldn't affect the turbo housing at all.

My Cometic head gasket was leaking like yours. I was told not to retorque the bolts because it would break the silicone on the bolts that is supposed to prevent coolant leaks. So I used the GM coolant tablets and so far it is not leaking. Others on this board also recommended the tablets.
