water pump nipple coolant flow direction?

Does anybody know for sure what direction the water pump nipple flows? Is coolant being "sucked in" or does it flow out of it into the heater core hoses?
I've tried to research it and can't find it anywhere. If anybody knows, could you share? thanks much!

The rule is the nipple closest to the thermostat housing is the hot feed to the heater core.


(and the cold dumps into a low pressure/intake area for the water pump).
