Hey Guys. Quick question. When hooking up a water temp gauge do I need a sending unit or can I splice into my coolent temp sensor wire. I have a scamaster to show me my coolent temp but I want to install a after market gauge. Thanks

Usually an electric gauge will come with a temp probe that mounts between fins on the radiator. Very easy install and I like the redundancy of your idiot light since you won't be messing with it.

Would you happen to have a picture of that? I don't have to bend the fins for installation right? I have a new radiator. I must be tired and not thinking straight.

The gauge will usually come with it's own sending unit or probe that has to be installed in the water jacket of the intake manifold.

hope this helps. The probe is small enough to fit between fins with no problem. My Autometer gauge reads exactly the same as my Powerlogger.

Not to hijack, more like a piggy back, but does any one have a pic of where to install the other type of probe in the intake manifold. It's the Autometer with the brass probe.

Don't you use the sending unit in the front of the intake manifold, passenger side, like in this video?
