A lot of guys here know Barry Wood. He races GN's at all the Buick events. He was there with a friend of his and called me after it happened because he knows this is our local track we do test and tune at.
I was working on my car for Norwalk, but this really took the wind out of my sails. I closed up shop and came in for the day.
I will race past that spot several times this summer...it will always be on your mind.

This is very sad.

Norwalk has concrete crash barriers not steel gaurdrails. He was impaled by the steel guardrail after it opened up his car up like a tin can and cut through the steel cage. May have had a different outcome had the track had concrete crash barriers instead of steel gguardrails. Something to think about next time at the track thats for sure

We lost a local racer the same way. The post took his head off, if he wouldn't have hit the guard rail he probably would have lived.

I agree 100%, just the thought of this type of accident should make track owner's take a hard look at their safety programs as well as their facilities.....
