In the "parts for sell" or "parts wanted" areas, if you can post what part of the country you're in, then stay out. You don't have to give specifics, just something like central Ohio or SE Texas..........what a waste of time and pain in the ass when someone doesn't show where they are at.

same thing with not raising hand with what part of interest... then all of a sudden the part is sold...thats what chaps me, felt like i got jipped on one deal many months back..oh well life goes on

I love when they say "Turbo Buick for sale" You open the thread and it just says, "good condition."

I mean no color, no location, no pics, nothing, what the hell kind of advertising is that? If I ever sell my car it's going to take about 5 posts just to hold the pictures and info. When I sell something I usually actually try to sell it.

Location and price should be mandatory. Posts that say " I'm gauging interest because I think I might want to sell" and "what do you think I should ask" are a waist of everyones time. Do a search, come up with a price and post it.

Speaking of pictures, I hate it when people post up pics of parts that are crappy quality (i.e. blurry, bad lighting, out of focus). Or take pics from a crappy cell phone. Borrow a decent digital camera if you have to and learn to use it.

Ditto.

If you're gonna sell something, tell us where you're at, then provide good pictures. When sold, then immediately reply to your post with "sold".

Honestly I dont give a frick if the parts comming from the moon, It just irks me when I think I might have a shot at getting a part i want or need only to see a bunch of "PM SENT" PM sent on what!? pm sent to say whats up? hows the weather?...

parts for sale

We need some new rules. I have an idea for another rule. Some of us have lives and don't sit around only to worship a grandnational. Some of us work alot of hours. Especially when we sell very very cheap parts to generate a few bucks and to offer a good deal to a fellow car enthusiast. We don't need multiple comments on the thread by those who are always the ones implying things or trying to push you into selling stuff for cheaper. If people don't like the price make offer and move on.

Also when a part is under 10 bucks and the seller post plenty of pictures please don't get butt hurt and respond with a sarcastic comment stating, " Well you did not respond to me. " Meanwhile a seller has multiple items advertised and is doing his best to respond in a timely manner along with having a life and working a major amount of hours. All along there are other members who take it for what it is worth and immediately pay the very cheap asking price and are thrilled to have found a deal and not tire kick it to death. This is a forum with thousands of members. We are all human. Take it for what it is worth.

maybe we should come up with something similar to what is being used at the srtforums

SRT Forums - SRT4, SRT6, SRT8, SRT10 & Dodge Forum

I. General Rules
A. Items forbidden to be sold or purchased
i. Pirated Software
ii. CD Keys without included software
iii. Not for Resale or Academic software
iv. Pornography
v. Pyramid, MLM, and contest/giveaway sales
vi. Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms
B. No feeler, interest, or price checking threads
C. Multiple Threads - Please consolidate threads. Do not post multiple threads for separate items. If you have a multitude of items to sell place them in the same thread. A warning will be sent and repeat offenders will have their threads merged or removed.
D. eBay or other Auctions links - Links to products on eBay or other auction sites will not be tolerated. Items in the buy/sell forum are between community members and we like to give our members first choice on an item for sale.
E. Thread Crapping - Thread crapping is rude and will not be tolerated. If you feel the price is unfair or if you have an issue with the asking price then kindly PM or email the seller to inform them. It will be up to the seller to adjust the price however they see fit.

II. Thread Labels - all posts in the Buy and Sell forums will be labeled with the appropriate prefix, This will aid us in finding or moving you thread to the correct forum if we feel like being nice. If you need a title changed for your thread please contact a Buy/Sell Moderator. Any post that does not contain the correct prefix will be removed.
A. FS: - For Sale
B. FT: - For Trade
C. WTB: - Wanted to Buy
D. GB: - Group Buy
III. For Sale Posts (FS:) - All items for sale must include a price. If a price is not present the individual who created the thread can/will be notified to correct the issue if not the thread will be deleted at our own discretion. If the price is not posted within 24 hours after the thread will be locked or deleted. Make sure to delete your thread after the sale, This will keep your information safe from other members after the sale.

If you like you can use the following format for your email so search bots don't grab it and then you get spammed:
srtforums at doitlikethis dot com

A. For Sale Post format - All items for sale will use the following format:
What is your name(first & last)? :
What is your Email Address OR Contact PH #? :
What is your City? :
What is your State? :
What is your Zip code? :
B. For Sale post pictures - All items for sale over $199 require a picture. This is for the buyers safety, include your screen name and the date the picture was taken.
C. Paypal - Do not request any additional fee for Paypal, 3% or otherwise when posting items for sale. If you feel the need to cover your loss on a Paypal fee then you as the poster should adjust your asking price to accommodate the fee. (This rule applied to any other similar payment options)
IV. For Trade Posts (FT:) - All items for trade should be listed in for trade forum. Do not include a trade for money, this would make your item for sale and should be listed as a FS thread.

V. Wanted to Buy Posts (WTB:) - All items that you are interested in buying should be wanted to buy forum.

VI. Group Buy Posts (GB:) - A group buy can only be initiated by a supporting vendor. A regular member may start the group buy only if he/she is being hosted by a supporting vendor.

VII. Bumping - You may bump your post once every 6 hours. If you are responding to a question in your thread then this is not considered a bump.

Hey........I've got a gray thing-a-ma-jig with those extra add-ons that do that one thing.......I'm located just outside of nowhere, just a block from whats his name.........shoot me an email at one of those addys I gave you about a year ago......cool ? .......I MIGHT answer .

This is one of the very few problems I have ever encountered on this board.
I do see it from time to time, and it still irks me.
How about a rule that doesn't allow people to criticize a person's asking price or integrity. If the price is too high for an individual they will not buy it. It's that simple. Quite honestly, I have had and read belligerant comments on my items and other sellers ads from non buyers whose only motive is to be heard. My pet peeve is the GTA wheel ads.

Listen, if you don't want rear GTA rims or other parts, just don't buy them. Keep your comments to yourself. Your opinion has no place on another members for sale ad. We all know four fronts are preferred, we are not fools. As far as rear GTA's are concerned, some buyers don't have a problem with spacers and others do. I actually had a fellow member call me a moron for refinishing rears. With twisted reasoning, this person thought it was OK to bash my asking price. I don't see it that way. I had two extra sets and ended up selling a refinished set to a Firebird owner for more than I could get on this board and the other set to a fellow member at my cost. Both are very happy with their purchases.

-I agree with you, "WLDWST"...It's just plain wrong to let a member bash another member's posts for whatever reason at all! That is not this site's purpose. It did happen to me a short while ago that another member (I'm pretty sure that you recall that and you also know which member I'm referring to... ) just came on a thread where I posted some GTA "rear" wheels for sale and started posting offending remarks about how GTA "rears" don't look right, that the price I was asking was too high, and this and that, etc... I tried to politely tell him that if he's not interested in the wheels to simply stop posting on my thread and also that the price I was asking for was not of his concern, especially since he clearly said that he did NOT want to buy them! Instead of collaborating, he did the opposite and still went on with more offending and insulting remarks...
-I quickly realized that this guy was a dummy and I had better things to do than to lose my time in engaging in a verbal fight with him. Instead, I wrote to Shane asking him to look into it. Shane warned him not to post on my thread again but he completely ignored the warning. The next day, I talked to Shane again and he promptly banned the guy and I've never heard of him since...:) ...good riddance!...:D It's just too bad that I had to use that kind of method to get rid of such people...
-But all this makes me say that there definitely should be some kind of clear, ethical rules implemented to prevent such unwanted things from happening again...I'm not sure if the address and phone number of each member should be displayed, ( some privacy is ok ) but at least, the location and maybe the zip/postal code should...

thanks,

Claude
