Yep; I'm guilty of the "PM sent" thing myself. I never really thought about anyone else having a interest in my mail or what's inside it.

As for trying to sell anythign on the board; it's many times more trouble than the parts are worth to get them sold. Wes knows what I mean.

As for describing things; I was telling my wife about a new car that a friend bought; engine, transmission, tires, ... Then she asked what color it was. I don't know. Not sure my friend did either.

The point is; not everyone sees things the same; and you can't expect every question you're going to get asked. But; if you're going to specify no shipping and local pickup only; give your address.

Happy shopping,

Joe

Isnt most users location easy to determine by looking in the right corner of their post?! I know not all have this filled in, those who actually want to sell will have that listed, or IMO they dont want to sell as bad as they think.
We have so many people here that just want to pick, and nit-pick, and microscope everything others do, that it is a hassle to buy or sell because some ahole wants to interject some worthless opinion like toofastforyou experienced.
FS section should not be a thread for discussion, only product listed, "PM returned" notification or transaction completed update. I hate looking over 5 pages of comments to find if a part is still FS, sold, pending or whatever.

I do.

The thing is about all of it is that this is a hobby. You do it to offer a deal and to make a buck or two. Not really worth the time and hassle to ship but in the end helping out a fellow member always comes back when your missing that one hard to find part. Being able to come on tb.com and find what you need fast for a great price is awesome. However it is always ruined by the guy who pms you and offers half what 5 others offer and then spend 10 minutes typing what he expects and how he expects it shipped with tracking for 2 bucks. Then to top it off they act like they are doing you a favor. It is rediculous.

And Joe and I have had a couple of deals, Everything Ive sold like WES mentioned, Ive done it at a fair price...IM not out to make my mortgage payment.

I had some stuff, Joe slid me like 30 bucks and I stuffed as much as I could into the box, it cost me almost as much to ship but if he could use it, then it went to good use

Buyers are always going to lowball people, that will never change. The lack of information can be changed though, and I hardly think "it takes all day on the internet" to do it.

How about something concerning the amount time for shipping and handling? I mean I do this for living so if it's a new part I have in stock than it goes out ASAP and if it's a used part I have laying around than I say it's going to be a day or two before I get it cleaned up and stuffed in a box for USPS. Quite a few threads over on the Feedb*tch forum where instant gradifacation clashes with the part time hobby part of this. I mean if you dont have the time than you shouldn't be selling. If you do than let the buyer know what the ETA is! And if you don't have the patience to wait than you shouldn't be buying! And I think a full profile with e-mail addy and your full name in your signature should be mandatory to post in the for sale/wanted forum.

If the powers-to-be will make me a mod. for the parts wanted, parts for sell, and cars for sell, I'll put an end to this BS.....!.......I'll make Judge Roy Bean look like a p$$$y.

Ha! I don't see it that way with the parts section.

Some seller probably do this to keep the dreamers or BUSTERS at bay?

The street goes both ways. Some buyers are PITA's.
I have tried selling stuff on the PARTS Forum. It SUKS. I find ebay 200% better than here in the Parts forum.

God sakes I am selling a used item & some Buick Members here want an IRON CLAD WARRENTY, Hand holding, etc If you want new then spend the money & buy NEW! Don't look here.

Some of these turbo buick items are coming up on 21 years use not all are perfect.

I've had some good experiences; and some bad experiences on the parts for sale here. Please don't think I'm just buying nickel and dime stuff on here; I've even bought a car that was in the cars-for-sale; that went very well.

But; you've got to cut the buyers some slack. In the past few weeks; I've gotten downsized a couple of times. Once on some 2 3/4" pipes that came as 2.5"; and some 3.5" that arrived as 3". The 2.5's went back home easy enough; but the 3" are still here. There's a pile of other stuff that wasn't quite as described; and the seller still finds a way to blame me for it.

So; the buyer has to pay for something; sight-unseen; then get a box that will possibly have broken or wrong parts in it; then try to work out something with the seller that may not be trying so hard to please after he's cashed the check. Try to see it from their point a bit.

Oh; I forgot about the "missing pieces" that the seller didn't think I'd need.

Nice how he made that work out for him.

hey joe, just how many cars do you actually have? i hope your not one of these guys that is just buying up good parts for cheap just to hold into them to try and nail everyone in the coming years.

Actually; 3. Virtually; 4 or 5.

I have an 84 that my wife and I bought new.
An 87 that probably holds the record for longest engine rebuild (somewhere around 8 years; and still counting; I’ll have to check).
And; another 87 that I bought off the board last year.

I’ve also had two 84 GN’s that I let myself get talked out of about six years ago. I learned how to pull the crank and the #5 piston out the bottom on these cars.

I’m currently looking for a nice 84 GN; and or an 82 GN.

That makes three I have (the two that run, and the one that uses up most of the garage and keeps the dust off of some of my lawn equipment); and possibly one or two more in the hopefully near future.

Right now; I’m just nailing myself. I been through about five wiring harnesses with the 84’s so far; so I’ve picked up a couple of spares for the car I have; and the possible GN in the future. I’ve bought an odd set of Stage I pistons that I’ll probably never have a block to use them in (they’re STD size; and I’ll probably never get another STD block). My wife would surely tell you that I’ve bought too much stuff and there’s no reason to store it any longer for cars that don’t run or that we don’t even have. As for what I could nail you guys for in the future on the STD Stage I pistons is anyone’s guess; but I’m thinking they’ll be a low priority for most of you guys in the future. If I were going to start my nailing supply cache; it would probably be filling with NOS trim and GNX parts rather than chipped marker lenses and 16 position Max Effort stuff. A real smart fellow would probably buy some nice cars and part them out; but that will never happen on here - or would it? Nah; it’s against the rules of the board anyway; running a business without being a supporting vendor. Not this bunch.

Nailing you guys; I know better than to even try. You can search; but the items I’ve sold on this board are; a set of guaranteed cracked stock headers (priced at $0; yes; FREE) that went pretty quick, and two shifter handles that GN4U2C sold to me. I paid $40 for a Gray one and a Red one; and got Gray and Brown. All I wanted was the Red one; but G-Force took both off my hands for what I had in them. GN4U2C has never replied to PM or Email. Maybe he died shortly after the sale; just another one of the pitfalls that buyers must deal with. G-Force only needed the plungers out of the handles; and it looks like he resold one of them for $15 shipped. Lots of big money going around here rather than folks getting nailed.

Maybe I’m selling the stuff on eBay. A quick check reminds me that it’s been well over a year since I sold anything on there. As I recall there’s been a couple of bicycles, a couple of guitars, some Quadraphonic tapes (remember those?) and a Quad phonograph cartridge. Please keep checking back on eBay; ‘cause I’ve got some guitar amps I’ll be putting on (very soon if my wife has anything to do with it).

Your correct but what about sellers who have to deal with the extreme tire kicking? Guys who take up your time talking on the phone over and over wanting pics and info then agree to buy your car then totally ignore you after that. Will not respond to pm's or emails. Just to say hey I changed my mind or whatever. Then you have the guys that act like they are helping you out for you selling to them for less so that you will have to actually lose money on a deal. Then to give them free delivery. It goes both ways. I have sold and bought on here and have had good and bad experiences. You were one good buyer as you paid the pp fees without being asked to. Then I have had others who expect me to cover shipping, pp fees, cut the price in half, ship via ups with tracking and then do it all for 10 bucks.

I've been on that side too. The "free" cracked headers; several wanted guarantees that they could be fixed. One guy wanted a cut on the shipping cost. A lot of wasted time for a "free" item. Finally had a local guy call and come pick them up.

Wes and Mike are only two of many great guys on this board. Mike even put up with me being on a trip for a week and not being able to email.

Luckily; I've run into more good than bad here.

Thanks guys,

Joe

not trying to bust balls, but i know of a few people on the other site that seem to horde parts then stick it to people when they need some thing. seems like you have your hands ful over there. good luck with your projects

Now that is some funny 'stuff'. A guarantee that used, cracked headers or anything else that is used and described as damaged would be guaranteed.

As far as the tire kickers, that is the price you pay to sell things. I can't even imagine the brick and mortar business owners putting up with customers busting on them that they can get it cheaper elsewhere.

The saying caveat emptor comes to mind with any of these transactions.
If you can afford to lose the money on used 'stuff'(Junk or otherwise) you might want to just 'pay the freight' as my dad used to tell me and get new stuff from reputable vendors.
