Anyone remove the transmission gear selector rod and hardware since its not needed in a floor shift car? Anything needed to be done to the column to force it to think its always in neutral so I can start it anytime and not have the wheel lock up either?

it is needed even in floor shift car
without it
you loose the backup lights
your chip doesnt know you arent in park which can effect the fueling so let you chip builder know if you plan to disable since ecm will think you're in park (fast /xfi etc.. no issue)
the column wont have a neutral start disabled so its possible to start in any gear position




only pro is you loose a couple lbs (maybe 2)

i always install them even when going to a th400

i did it because bushing was messed up and causing the shifter cable to break and it dos cause fueling issues and its not worth it for 2 pounds you wanna really shave some wieth go fiber glass hood trunk bumpers tubular control arms in the front wieght reduction isnt cheep if ou reall have your heart set on pulling that shaft when ou drive it youl have to pre mark were drive is and manualy move it to said position when driving
