Why Try...

A buddy gave me some weld prostars that I would like to try to get 275/60's on. The wheels are 15x8x4.5bs. I put them up to the car and it looked like they were too close to the frame but they don't have tires on so I can't tell. I have 3" studs but am wondering if I should give them back or try to space them out a 1/4" or so and see if they fit.

I did a search and found a few people saying 4.5 might work but not many. Most everyone has 3.5bs. Thanks in advance.

Since you already have the 3 inch studs you can run a spacer. Probably need a half inch spacer to get he BS down to 4 inches.

They should be good with a .5" spacer. 1/4" may not be enough to eliminate rub.

Ok, well that settles it. I would rather not use a spacer and I can give these back without a big fuss.

When I bought it, it had 275/60 Drags on it and they barely rubbed the inside(inside tire was shiny at some spots) so 4" BS probably won't cut it. My car is lowered so that doesn't help.

I've had both sizes with the 275/60s. Both will fit. However, if you use the 3.5 backspacing you would need to cut or roll the fender lip and moulding. Or you can run airbags to keep the lip from hitting the tire. The better size is the 4.5 backspacing. You will need a 1/4 spacer, but only on one side (can't remember which sidw though) driver I think). The other side clears fine.

4" backspacing on a 7" wheel may be too much backspacing (and cause frame rub), but on an 8" wide wheel, it should be OK with those tires.

Ok, I will try them at least. I am going to go by a tire shop today and try to find 275/60 BFG's. Hopefully they won't charge me to test fit them. Will that size fit on TType wheels in case the Prostars don't fit? Where can I find a decent 1/4" spacer?

I have heard bad things about spacers and I drive pretty hard but if a 1/4" will make it work, that saves me 300 bucks.

You guys are the greatest! LOL

I tried them out today. A friend of mine works at NTB and agreed to try until we found a tire that fit. Well WTF was I thinking!! These things fit directly on the rim and then directly on the car! I mean directly with no rubbing on the inside or outside! I couldn't get a finger in there though so I went ahead and got 5/16" spacers.

They only rub on the drivers side over bumps. I am going to roll the lips just a tad and get some spring spacers to raise the rear about 1/2" or so. Thanks again guys!!! Why did I ever doubt you...
