In the city it has climbed to $4.59.

What do you mean we've "hit" $4, it's been that way for a while in Chicago already. :p

In NW Indiana it's $4.03 today. I moved from Chicagoland 3 years ago. Chicago has a 10.25% sales tax added to 11¢ city and county tax. That does not include the federal tax. When gas doubled that past 2 years from 2 to 4 dollars... Chicago's taxes on gas effectively doubled!!!    Talk about the "greedy oil companies"... Chicago rips off consumers for probably more that the oil companies make on gas!

Well we all new it was coming, $4.00 Unleaded for Memorial day:eek:

Post away gas prices from around the country and lets see the variances:mad:

This is dead center in Kansas right in the middle of the country. I can only imagine what you East/West Coasters are paying:eek:

Here in NJ we're still $3.79 for regular, $3.99 for super. Haven't seen anything with a $4.xx yet.....in town anyway.

This flat out sucks. The funny thing is, they know 99% of us won't walk or ride a bike. We'll keep paying. That is also the sad thing.

Yep, that is true. Meanwhile the oil nazi's slowly raise the prices a little each day so that they don't drive you into shock. Over a period of time you wonder how you ever brought yourself to pay as much as you do.

Won't be much longer until gas hits the $10 a gallon mark. of course I'm sure people will still be gladly paying for it and driving their big gas guzzling SUV's when they don't need them. Never mind riding a bicycle, especially in "overweight eat them Big Macs by the dozen" America.

$4.40 for 94 and thats what I run, However I need to check som prices of Xliene at the stores and see if its cost effective to drop down at the pump and mix

30% difference from 4/18/07!

27% difference from 12/27/07 to 4/25/08 ALONE!!!!!

The Saudi's and Chavez want to see OBAMA get elected, don't they???

$3.99 87 unleaded, $4.95 diesel, prices went up Wednesday night. I topped off Wednesday morning for $3.79.

Check out this timeline on 87 unleaded. I keep my expense report receipts:

4/18/07 - $2.75
5/31/07 - $3.45
6/26/07 - $2.78
7/30/07 - $2.75
8/31/07 - $2.94
9/28/07 - $2.73
10/31/07 - $2.95
11/29/07 - $3.06
12/27/07 - $2.83
1/31/08 - $3.09
2/20/08 - $3.04
3/27/08 - $3.24
4/25/08 - $3.59

Notice the Memorial day spike? Again?

Funny, just topped off the wife's car at the local Sunoco. Planning on filling up the Buick tomorrow with 93 Ultra and looked at the prices. $4.30 for their 92 premium and $4.59 for 93! Went in and told the owner who barely spoke English and he just sort of looked at me. Told him how could it be 29 cents more from 92 to 93 octane? The sign said Ultra was $4.39 but the pump read out was $4.59, wonder how many people they ripped off.

He was jabbering on his cell when I left so will see tomorrow if he changed it. Of course, the way things are going that WILL be the price next week.

Is there ANYTHING at all we could band together as a group of Buick Friends to put a sting in their asses? (It might be small but ti could get an internet push through lots of Bulletin Boards) Oh h***,,, Probably not.

At least till Oil Futures get off the Board of Trade:mad:

My Buick is in the garage and my daily driver is out front parked with the low fuel light on. :)

My Buick is in the garage with no engine in it and my daily driver Cadillac is in the driveway with a sheared water pump pulley (which isn't available from the stealer until Wednesday). Looks like I'm going 'green' this Holiday weekend (and giving my Keds a workout).

Your'e right. Alot of people probably won't even notice when gas goes to $10 a gallon. Then again, that can depend on how close you live to your job. I know people who commute only 2 miles one way to work.

IM just sick and tired of the politicians referencing Europe " well they been paying X-n-X for years" But they dont seem to get the fact that them citys over there were designed and built fricking 900 years ago and everything is centrally located, where as Americans ave commute is what? IM guessing 40 miles one way?

Unless you live in LA where you might work 5 miles down the road and it still takes ya an hr or better to get there:eek:

What's kind of funny to see is the sudden increase in value of cars that some people would never have dreamed of buying. These new hybrids still aren't as fuel efficient as some older cars.

I thought these were some interesting articles about Geo Metros.

"The rush may have begun. The 1996 2-door 3-cylinder Metro Solomon now owns opened on eBay May 7 with a bid of $200. A week later, Solomon won the car auction with a bid of $7,300. In 1995, a new Metro hatchback sold for about $9,000, according to Auto Mall USA."

Here is a pretty good article about why buying a used car is better than buying the current breed of hybrids.

I had already planned on buying a commuter car when I get back to the states next month, but I really don't want to pay a ridiculous amount for a clown car.

I think something along the lines of:
Toyota Corolla
Toyota Celica
Toyota Camry
Honda Accord
Honda Civic
Mazda Protege
Honda CRX

I don't see too many American cars listed on any of these "lists", what kind of mileage did those old Taurus SHOs get?

I just did fill up yesterday at $3.69 a gallon. I commute about 10 miles one way to work, because where I am at is out in the country.
