Bud is the Manager of the Honda dealership asked me to take his personal CBR1000 out for a spin said it needed to be drove and to find a road and blow it out through a few gears.
Bike is a Factory Reposol clone (gorgeous bike) has aftermarket complete exh and the actual Honda Factory race team ECM (he has a few connections).
He told me not to let it idle it around too much due to the track tune in the ecm.

Went by a another friends house and he pulled out his GSXR 1000 (pipe, sprockets, Power commander, air box mods, etc) and we cruised for a bit.

Well we hit it from 2nd on a several mile long new stretch of road (track of course  ). Bud missed a gear so he was behind
I was watching the tach and shifting then glanced down at the speedo ...and 186 in a freaking blink. I was shocked none the less.

Without a turbo, N20 or a serious stroker kit 186 mph would be hard to achieve.

I'm sure at top speed it was around 165 mph tho. Either way that's still pretty dam fast on a bike. Watch out for those squirrels crossing the street:mad: ...eek.

Heck even a cig butt at that speed.

After checking some sites it looks as thoughthe speedos are off some but either way it was screaming. The digital display said 186 MPH They are supposed to do 179 mph stock fwiw

Well, I must say I have investigated many motorcycle accidents and can honestly say that those digital tachs are quite accurate and anything's possible I guess.

I had one of them sent out to check the validity of the MC tach because one was found near an accident site that was stuck on 11000 rpm's I believe:eek: It was in 3rd gear and I belive it was a GSXR 750.

He rear ended a car and I found pieces of him and his bike near by.

They appear to be quite accurate. When the tachometer breaks off like that it reveals a needle "whip" at a given RPM and we can show the speed of the bike by its gear position, tranny type with gear ratio, tire size, weight of rider and bike, motor size and I believe axle ratio.

If you turn the bike off while powered it would cycle back to zero but cutting power to the speedo itself can cuase a needle "whip" and remain at the last RPM before contact and disconnection. Not always tho.

Speedo is most likely about 10% off give or take so it was probably some where in the 160's fast non the less. When I hit the speed limiter on my 14 (187mph) the speedo was reading way higher than that. Most Liter bikes also run out of ass up top as well that's where my 14 screams away from them  For those people who say it's crazy it happens easier than you think and I actually feel more comfortable on my bike going that fast than in a car

No doubt it was crazy....Got my speed fix for a while. Funny I find myself just cruisin around below the speed limit now in my GN...LOL

Wow. That's pretty d@mn fast.
I had an experience something like that in our GN once.
Got to almost 120 before I realized it.
I let off because the front end started walking around.

Is it true that the dotted line turns solid over 125mph?

Have you ever seen a speedo needle leave a mark on the face of the speedometer from impact? It's called needle slap. In a very bad crash it's a very good indicator of true speed.

I have also seen investigators read the "black box" in cars, that is very interesting. It shows all the vehicle sensor parameters before an event. It will display which occupants had their seatbelts on, throttle position, vehicle speed and if the brakes were applied. This method is very scary:eek:

sorry but, my CBR1000RR is a stock motor (only pipe, intake and tune) and i was radared at 181mph by a friend who is a cop..

a cop told me once, the only real difference of a motorcycle crash at 60 or 160 mph is a open or closed casket.

They are bad......... my buds Gixxer would only do 185 from the factory due to speed cut

Hey i hit over 180 with Ferrari 360 Modena on US 15 in Vegas .........Point is Bike or car at those speeds your probibly going to that HWY in the sky ............or the other place :D

Been to about 132ish (according to scanmaster) in the Buick. Felt pretty solid. Although it is dropped 2", with poly bushings, Bilsteins, and 16" 245 width BFG Comp TA's. (also has the IC scoop off, which helps a lot). Its no corner carver, but it holds the road well.

Had my Cruiser over 100. Peaked it once at 110. Cutoff is I believe 118. I apparently pissed off some hick in a pickup truck, who went after me with high beams and his off road overhead lights in my face. Not bad. Especially with the extra 500 pounds of junk I was moving between apartments in the back.

My bud has a ex-race/stunt Yamaha R1, was wrecked and he rebuilt it. Had that up to 180 something on a stretch of interstate out here. Real easy to to. I've never dared sit on any of his bikes bigger than his R6, let alone ride either of his R1's. He slowed down a lot after his dads accident though, some idiot cut a turn too tight and slammed head on into his dads cruiser bike (i think it was a goldwing). His dad survived with minor bruises and cuts, but the kid died on impact. His bike broke in two. My friends dads bike was pretty messed up, but still able to ride. He did get a yamaha after that though. Speed doesn't always kill, stupidity kills. :(

Sweet looking bike.... I maybe getting a Busa with a 6" stretch from an older bud of mine that bought it as kinda midlife crisis bike and it just sits there after he put the +6 chrome swingarm, ss brake lines, chain, tank protector and new custom tail.
Bikes sweet and I love it.
Its a big sucker but a 1000 seems a lil small for me 6'6" 260 lbs. Testament of the CBR1000's power with my weight on it.
