I wanted to see what the car would do with street tires ( yokohama so and so's ) and it did o.k.. It was running consistent 7.90's at 92 mph, with a 7.70 at 93 mph on two passes. I got pretty close to 30 passes in in about an hour and a half. I had 18 passes under my belt in an hour. I was having to baby it into gears because of the rev limiter in the chip. The transmission wants to shift higher than the chip will allow so I had to play referee in that battle. Sixty foot times were 1.9x, with a 1.87 thrown in there. The 1.87 came when the guy running the christmas tree yelled at me because I wasn't in the groove. Anyway, I believe that I could have gotten mid 7's out of it, if not a low 7 with traction and being able to shift where I wanted.

Oh, but on the way home I wanted to check the boost. I wanted to check the boost because ( for me ) racing eighth mile didn't allow me any time to watch the gauge. All I know is the car wasn't knocking. So, I roll into the boost and thats' when the magic happened. My audible knock detector starts going crazy, and scanmaster is showing 19, 22, 30, 17 degrees of knock and the car is limping bad. The car sounded terrible, and there was a horrible tapping sound. I'm like WTF is it now! I haven't pulled the valve covers yet, but I believe that I broke a rocker shaft. Hopefully it's a quick fix!

Sounds like it running good and 1.9x 60 ft on street tire? That's pretty dard good! I'm lucky to get that on slicks, my best was like a 1.94

Also, if your car was able to cool down between runs, you could have probably went faster :) Still awesome times though!!!

Nope, I limped the car back to the office and drove my Honda back today. I'll look at it this afternoon.

Oh, as far as cooldown. I didn't let it cool down much because it's only 1/8th mile, plus the temperature never got above 174 during the run or in the staging lanes. The track wasn't sticky at all either.

Let the car cool down lol, you would prolly pick up some time with that alone. Great times though. I got 1.9x sixtys on kelly chargers and ran 8.14.

normally i do let the car cool down between runs, but this was too much fun. there were alot of cool cars to line up next to.

30 passes in an hour and a half  Do you have a tranny temp gauge? That's a great way to kill a tranny and a motor. last guy I saw do something smart like that baked his tranny and spun the bearings in the motor. Of course that probably explains your shifts hitting the rev limiter and the motor knocking. LOL.

Good Luck with the car :o

What was the OIL temp.?
What was the tranny temp.?

Back to back runs put alot of heat into the systems. Not to mention the coolant temp., is just an average of the water temp flowing past the sensor. The areas around the exhaust valve seats run at 500+dF, when the engine is under load. It takes a while for those temps to come back down to *normal* temps..
