i just bought an 84 t type. what chip should i get? the car is pretty much stock and idk what one to buy. any help would be great.

thanks.

get an 87 ecm for about $40 at a local junkyard and get a Turbo tweak chip for it.

how hard is that gonna be to hook up? cause my dad is not gonna want me doing a bunch of stuff to the wires. its still his car until i pay him back. what else is a mod that will give me a little more power for a little cost?

throughly read the "sticky" section at the top of the page, the 86-87 ECM mod is in there as well... my .02

The 86 ECM upgrade is plug N play, use your smaller chip(calpak) from your ECM put that into your 86 ECM along with a nice TurboTweak Chip. All which is covered in the Hotair sticky tab "Hotair Info" If you want a 93 Red's chip i could send you one for free if you like buddy but the TT chip is far beyond Reds chip.(my Red's chip is for a Hotair 84/85 ECM, plug right in FYI)

There are other things needed to do this ECM, 86 MAF is needed(affordable on many web sites) but heard they don't last or not great working. So many go to LT1/LS1 MAF with Translator. you might get away with using your 84/85 MAF but I'm not to sure, someone might correct me on this.

Also when you order the TT chip your gonna have to let Eric know if you want to kept the IAT sensor or have him burn it off. The 86/87 Turbo Regals have this sensor only, you could buy the sensor and harness to install it but really don't need it. I got it burnt out of the chip and everything works fine, as many others did with the same outcome.

everyone says that an 86/87 maf is required with the 87 ecm, but my car runs perfect with the 84 maf. maybe it's because i put it in the notes that i had the stock maf when i ordered my TT chip....

you could send me that 93 red's chip? that would be awesome! cause i have no money cause i just got the car.

Not to laugh but that is funny, I said the same thing after i bought the car and after i notice how much money i put into it!!!!!!!!!! I'm sure many will agree on this part:cool:

PM me your Address and i'll send it to you buddy, no charge. Remember it's for your ECM(84/85) no need to swap nothing, It's a 93 chip but plus would do just fine. It is in no way a TT chip but it's free

pm sent. is it about just as basic as unplugging one thing and plugging in another?

installing a chip? yes, its just take out your old chip, put in the one i'll send you. Your ECM is located on passenger kick panel, just unscrew however many screws, take it out. Undo the Chip cover, take out the old chip, install your new one, put it all back.

Remember to disconnect the power when you install the chip though, just in case.

You have started down a path that will be very challenging but frustraiting. Take your time and take a break if you get frustraighted. These cars will break you if you're not careful so take your time and remember in the end it will be worth it to see the look on someones face when you leave them in the dirt.

X2 here. Brad
