Just like the title saids, in my opinion I think the 60's and the 70's had the best looking body styles for cars. I really like the chevelles and Montes of the early 70's...:D

Although, I think in the 80's GM had the better looking car (G-body) than Ford and Dodge. The 80's had really ugly looking cars back then.

So, tell me what you all think...

60s beats them all.

The early 70s body styles were hold overs of the late 60s. Emissions, insurance and gas companies, pretty much killed the desire to design a decent car. Of course the G bodies changed some of that.

Definitley the mid to late 60's and early 70's.

By '73 the U.S. government mandated that all new cars have 5 mph crash bumpers....which in some cases meant a redesign of the car to accomodate this. I think this is one of the reasons the GM A body line went from the muscular looking Chevelles/GS/GTO's/442's of '72 to the now more luxury orientated bug eyed cars of '73. I know that's one of the reasons why they gave the 74 Camaro a face lift.

In the 80's, the G body GM, the fox body Mustang and the F body GM cars were the best looking.

60's, no doubt about it, and you knew each one also, unlike today's cars.

40s. Few realize that those big flowing fenders were virtually as aerodynamic as alot of the newer cars. Had they had lower profiles they could have exceeded today's cars. Would be nice to see something retro like that being produced.

You mean like a PT cruiser?

SQUARE HEADLIGHTS all the way!

I'm rather partial to the 70's. I think the 80's are the lost decade. Anything 80's is either late 70's or early 90's.

Some of my favorite 70's cars.
73-78 GMC FWD Motorhome
75-80 Monza hatchback
76-78 Chevette
76-78 ElDorado Convertible
71-73 Riviera
76-79 Seville
73-77 ElCamino
Sorry. Nothing but GM in my House Of Style.Or is that Garage Of Style? This was the Bill Mitchell era. The Harley Earl era was good too. I cant think of any good names from those other two big companies. Dick Teague from AMC and Raymond Loewy from Stude-a-Packer are also on my All-Star team.

My favorite gimmick from the 70's. The disappearing tailgate of the 71-76 B-Body Wagons.

My favorite motor from the 70's. The CosworthVega 2.0 liter. State of the art. DOHC,EFI and a stainless steel header.

BTW Chrysler is canning the PT Cruiser so it's a has been.

I like the big flowing fins of the 40's-50's, I like the 60's for the squareness of the GTO style, the early 70's for the trans am, & monte carlo & call me weird but I always liked the mid 70's monte carlo, the one with you could hide a king size bed under the hood.

I'm with the 70's. Or 69 thru 73. Love the cuda, challenger, roadrunner, GS, chevelle, Boss 302, AMX etc...:D

Just the convertible for now. They are slated to kill it altogether after 2009. That may be rethought now considering the small car demand. I think if they'd offered the PT also as a 2 door it would have sold quite well.

40's but have ya ever taking a good hard look at a 52 Merc?

You would almost have to single it down to a givin year such as 1967 Impala:cool:
Some would be partial to a 68 Cutlass and some like the 69 or the GS....

Kinda depends on the changes made at the factory, Would I rather have a 69 Z over a 70.5? yeah but I love the looks of the 70.5 better...looks evil, Same with the T/A But with every change there were those that either loved it or hated it, the 78 vette with the rear disco window, most hated it but got used to seeing it all the time and learned to accept it perhaps.

I had a 76 Monte with the 10ft fan shroud, loved it, swivle buckets..oh yeah

Asking what generation looks better is like asking what generation of jeans does a girls rear look better in? Levis? oh yeah! Jordache?. Guess? and lord knows what thier wearin now, most look like they got two bricks back there with todays fit but the younger generation thats never seen a girl in a tight pair of mens levis dont have a clue and dont know any different.

Hows that for an analogy?
