What is everything I need to put a k&n cone air filter on my 84 gn? It currently has the stock air filter system. I was planning on buying it from either poston or kirban. Should I get the 8" or 9" cone?

You can pretty much buy just the filter and stick it on the MAF. Some kits come with a bracket that secures the MAF so the filter won't rub on anything.

cool. should I buy the 8" or 9"? I assume biggers better, but will it fit without hitting anything? and will the 9" fit on my stock mass air flow?

Just make sure it is 3" filter it doesn't matter how long yours is.

If you're planning on using your stock MAF and MAF Pipe, you will need to make a bracket of some sort and probably tie it in to the inner fender well, you can use the existing bolts(2), that way it doesn't bang around, because the stock MAF Pipe is abit flexible and will sag ;)

I started looking at that last night. I guess I'll wait till it comes in and then fabricate something. Not sure if I should support it from the original air canister area, or from the side. I'll just see what works best. thanks for your help guys.

my car just has a K&N cone filter on the end of the maf sensor, and what looksl ike a stock bracket going down to the fenderwell to support it.
i bought the car like that, and haven't really looked at a stock setup to see how GM originally did it, so i don't know what's what.
