So I have been searching around a little, and I may be blind but cant seem to find a definite answer.

I want to put a wideband 02 and gauge in my car so I know what my true A/F ratio is, I have come to find (like everyone already states) the narrow band is basically useless, just there for a general guess of how it is running.

First question is - What kit do you recommend?

Second is - do I NEED a Powerlogger to hook it up? Can't I just use the Wideband computer and power the A/F gauge? I don't really know how it is supposed to work.....

Third question is - Do I have to add a bung to my downpipe for the W/B sensor?

1. Aem with gauge unless you run race fuel.
2. No
3. Yes

and to expand on #2 a wideband without a gauge is much cheaper and that money could be put towards a powerlogger. Then the scanmaster will report actual A/F on the main screen instead of 02 mv's.

Earl so what you recommend is getting a Wideband kit with no gauge, add the 02 and get a PL to run the a/f ratio off of the Scanmaster? Can I use my 2.0 to do this or is it outdated?

the powerlogger needs a 2.1 :(

You get a new chip with the powerlogger than goes inside the scanmaster and makes it a 3.0.

Even when there's no laptop in the car, the scanmaster shows actual A/F and knock. In the powerlogger setup screen you also have the option to have the scanmaster show MAP, Boost and EGT if you want.

Some of the 2.0 scanmasters can be updated to take the 2.2 chip needed for PL. Bob made a post with pictures showing some of the 2.0 SM have the correct board to update it to 2.1. The 3.0 SM is for XFI.

Lol oh how this car loves my money! It needs a turbo and a set of headers first, ta49 from Bison should be shipped today and I am going to buy a set of ta replacement stockers, tired of taking the stockers off and having them rewelded over and over again. Then, wideband and PL, maybe going mafless. Im getting the turbo fever again!

Wait, are there some instructions on how to have my stock ecm read wideband? It's that what you guys are talking about? Replace the stock o2 with a wideband? Or is that adding a wideband o2 to feed power logger. Perked my interest

The wideband doesn't replace the narrowband 02 sensor, you have to keep it. With the WB and the PL you can read it directly on the scanmaster, I believe its the first screen on the SM, along with Knock Retard.
You are correct about these cars loving money, Since I didn't know how things worked together at the time, I bought the AEM with the gauge and the SM and PL AND the 3 gauge a pillar pod for the WB, boost, and electric fuel pressure gauge:rolleyes: I have lots of info now, some of it redundant, but my Cessna 172 had fewer gauges:) I guess I said all that just to say research before breaking out credit cards with these cars is wise! Cheers

Hi Clint! How ya doin? No, they haven't caught me yet! I'm hiding in plan sight in New Orleans. Tower cranes everywhere, plenty of work, and the food is really good.

If you have a powerlogger. That can read a wideband and provide and output on your scanmaster. you need an updatable scanmaster though

I bought my AEM wideband with gauge complete kit off ebay for $166.00 shipped a couple years ago.

FWIW My PLX with no gauge was < $150. It used the same sensor as my LC1 but had a long enough sensor cable to mount the controller behind the dash

I think what I will be doing is putting some headers on the car first (have to drive with the notorious driverside crack for a couple months) and then I will be purchasing a Powerlogger, and a wideband kit WITH a gauge. I like what Earl and others were thinking about just using the scanmaster to read my a/f, but seeing as I only have a SM 2.0 and a tt 5.7 chip, it will not work! and I am content with how I have my car setup now I just would like to read my A/F so I can actually tune the car....making bigger steps towards recovery! (aka fast time slips)

Just picked up a new PLX on ebay last week for under $110 shipped... I guess there's a newer model out and the old model is going cheap.
