What does a 2004 RX-8 run?

I'm not talking price, I'm talking speed. My friend from work just got an automatic one and said it's extremely fast. Then again, she's a 19 year old girl who has probably never had anything faster than a 16 second car, so anything 14's would be quick to her. So, is the car in the 14's or better in the quarter mile? Also, she claims it does 0-60 in about 4 and a half seconds. Can't be, right? I promised her a race when the weather gets warm (specs in my sig), and I better not lose.

I suprised you didnt straight laugh in her face when she said that piece of crap could do 0-60 in 4.5 seconds. having driven one at work, they seem pretty quick at first, but then you realize how slow they are when a coworker in an 04 s2000 passes you by like your standin still.........god those cars suck, and theyre awfully ugly too...........

And the auto is only 207HP/164TQ with a 7500 rpm redline (9000 for the 6).

I didn't laugh, but I doubted it. I though for a second that by calling it an RX-8, it must be faster than the old twin turbo RX-7 (one of only three Japanese cars I respect, the other two being the 3000 GT and the NSX). Boy, was I wrong.

My neighbor brought one home during a test drive. That car is Molases slow, this one was an auto. Great chassis, but no power.

The is slow enough to get a rebate from the factory---because it doesn't live up to adv. HP.

With the classic lack of TQ from the rotary--i bet the car feels very slow----Let her win if she looks good---it will be worth it in the end

as for as the RX 8 is concerned. when they 1st came out they had issue with the stated HP. to make that issue right they offered an unlimted mile warrenty and maintinace or they would by the car back!

not to many people gave up the car!

Too young? What's wrong with ya? They are 18 and 19! How is that too young? The other girl drives some older Jap car. Nothing special.

when you race make sure there si some kind of a bet. usually betting for money is a good call, but i'd race her for her shirt, and the other ones too
