Well....here ya go...
The Translator comes in two flavors. Translator and Translator Plus. Their basic function is the "translate" the signal from a newer LT1 or LS1 MAF meter so the older computer in your GN/TType can read it.
There are some switches inside the box (approx 4"x6"x1") where you can adjust the fueling to a certain degree....e.g. richer or leaner idle (to get your idle BLM's in line) etc.
The Trans+ has an extra wire where you can adjust the timing, so no matter what ignition timing is programmed into the chip you're using, you can add or subtract BASE or WOT timing to suit the conditions.
The Extender chip works with the Translators to give you an "extended" MAF range. The stock MAF meter will max out at 255 gps (grams/sec) of air flow. When you modifiy your car and start cranking up the boost, most stock MAF's will max out and the computer looses it's control over the fuel mixture since from that point on, it doesn't really know how much air is coming it.
The Extender "extends" the MAF range to 510 gps (or doubles it). With the Extender chip in (looks like a regular chip) your MAF numbers as read on a scan tool will actually be 1/2 of normal.
The Extender has a bunch of other features, like being able to control open/closed loop at idle....anti-theft on/off....valet mode....torque converter lock-up speed....etc.
Basically you'll end up with a system where you can read your scantool and adjust whatever you need to get your car tuned in.
VERY COOL
The last chip you'll ever have to buy. No more race chip / street chip .... just flip a few knobs in the Trans+ and your set to go.
Search on this site...there was a post where I typed in every option available for the Extender chips. If you have any technical questions just ask.....or send a message to TurboBob (Bob Bailey). He's the inventor of this system.
Hope that helps,
John
