remember about a year ago VW was adverstising a W8 that they were putting into Jetta's? Whatever happened to that? I was kind of excited to see that in a way. I thought it would be intresting to see some new technology at work. Did they drop the plans for making it? I just havent heard anything about it in a long time...

There is the new Phaeton that has a W-12 in it. I'm not sure if it's available over there yet, but it's new here and apperently got some power to it.

I don't think I'll ever be a VW 'fan' but I've seen a few halfway decent offerings over here. Every one I've driven has been very nice. Except for the Golf II that I drive... but that's an 84. :(

Hey Chuck, how's it going?:)

Wie geht's?

Great Chris!

Figures you'd have the scoop on the VW Phaeton! Who would have thought that VW would ever put a 12-cylinder engine in anything?

Es geht gut aber ich vermisse mein Grand National!!

:(

hehe.. you want the scoop, I found it on Volkswagens website. But it's in German.

http://showrooms.volkswagen.de/phaeton/

Click on "Zahlen & Fakten". (Numbers and Facts)

Then click on "Tecknishe Daten" (Technical Data)

This should show you two pull down menus. Click on "Benzin" (Unleaded Fuel). You'll see W12 at the bottom of the list with two options. The 4Motion all wheel drive, then another one "mit langem radstand" (with longer wheelbase). Click on either one and you'll see the horse power ratings (PS, Pferdestarke). The Torque numbers are "Drehmoment" and is listed in nM. I did the math and it puts out 405 ft/lbs.

While you're at it, they have info on the Passat W8, a W10 Turbo Diesel as well as some of the smaller offerings. Check out the Lupo.. you'll never complain about a Geo Metro again!

Viel Spass!
