Tightened up the header studs over the weekend and am feeling pretty good because the BLMs are staying around 132-135. Good, got the air leaks straightened out, time to get on it a bit. At 12-13 psi I hear a pop and get a big loss of power. The car runs better, but not well, once I unhook the laptop. I nurse it to the shade of the next overpass and shut things down.
I find:
**The silicone hose connecting the FMIC to the TB is shredded. There's the sudden loss of power.
**Oil sprayed across the engine. Side to side and from the TB to the firewall. I'm guessing that there was oil in the IC system from the days before the rebuilt turbo was installed.
**The front fan relay on the DS fender is burning. Smoking, melted plastic kind of failure.
My guess is that the hose broke first. If the ECM was trying to cope with the suddenly move to 0 psi, could it have done something stupid electrically? I'm not sure I trust the serial cable/ECM connection; not sure if that is a factor or not. Maybe it's all a big coincidence, but the gremlins are telling me otherwise.
Any thoughts out there?
