what happened?

on july 20th i installed my new 3000 stall l/u converter, new trans filter and dextron 3. no problems. week later driveshaft breaks in half after 3 hard launches. on the last launch the driveshaft broke at around 100mph. got car back together last night. trans won't shift at wot. have to let up on the gas for it to shift to next gear. when i put the new filter in i put the filter on the ear that was hanging down. is that the right way? before putting new driveshaft in i noticed play in the tailshaft of trans. how much if any is okay. any help is big time appreciated. thanks for any responce.

thanks russ. hey how to fix and what is the initial setting for tv cable. my cable is all the way back towards firewall(all notches showing). thank you.

First, drop the pan and see if the spring is in it. If not, remove the gov housing (cover with the 4 bolts behind the valvebody) drop that and the gov, and see if it's still on the small weight on the governor still. If it came off it might have gotten destroyed by the spinning gear on the gov. Find out and report back.


Donnie's got wrecked in BG when it came out. Had to get a new spring.

We'll deal with the cable setting later.

hey russ, thanks for the help.gov spring was laying in the pan. put it back where it belongs i,m now up and running.

No problem dude. If it falls out again, a little set screw screwed into the little weight will keep it in place for sure. Standard procedure in any rebuild......

did you check the rear bushing and seal to make sure every thing is good at rear of the trans
