If my lockup solenoid stops working going down the Highway cruising. In the UNLOCK position (converter unlocked) what will it do to the tranny? Anything?

It will do nothing to the tranny. You may experience a little drop in mpg if you do alot of highway driving though.

it will get hot as less fluid is being directed to the cooler.

Happened to me once, my cruise RPM went from 2200 @ 70mph to over 3000. I can only imagine the increased heat load from the 800+ RPM that was being "absorbed" by the tranny... I got a new solenoid the next day!
