What Helicoil kit to fix plenum to manifold stripped thread?

Have you thought about using a stud or studs which you custom make (by cutting off the thread of a long bolt) to be long enough to engage with all remaining threads in the bottom of the manifold's tapped hole. I used this method instead of helicoils.

I repaired a stripped plenum-to-manifold bolt hole just last week. I found the Helicoil that I needed at Advanced Auto Parts,I think it was a no.8 on the Helicoil chart,but take a bolt with you like I did just to make sure. They come in a kit with extra coils and are quite expensive($27) HTH
