What is maximum cam lift?

I'm going to purchase a new cam. Probably a roller.

What is the maximum lift my stock size valves can handle for these scenarios using stock rocker arm ratios - 1.55:
A) No cutting of intake or exhaust guides
B) Cutting of intake or exhaust guides.

Does it matter when the stock 1.55 rocker ratio is changed on the exhaust to 1.65?

Any comments from the experienced engine guys would be appreciated.

I am not sure about what went on with the valve guides but I put a thick layer of clay on the piston and turned the engine over with a .498" cam and 1.60 rockers and the valves never touched the pistons so it seems that piston-valve clearance is no problem for our engines
