WHAT is that sound?

I was driving down a main road in my S-10 truck when this goofy ricer pulls in the lane beside me. Now my s-10 is no barn burner.
but I goosed the throttle & gave a little side by side action.
Of course I would hope his car was faster than an 4cyl truck.
I kept hearing this WHOOSHHHHH sound on each of his gears as we raced. Was that NOS or those silly noisemakes they put on there engines. What are those called?

Either a blow off valve or one of those fake BOV sound machines. Probably the latter if you beat him!

Why would someone put a fake sound machine to make a car sound like that?

What does BOV stand for. blow off valve

Personally, I have met ricers that claim no speed. They simply like the cosmetics. I have no problem with that - with them.
To each his own when it comes to liking the way something looks.

It is the Uncle Ben's types that believe a multi-level wing so increases their aerodynamics that they gain power and speed that irritate me. Especially because they always drive 5 mph below the speed limit in the left lane.

its why a ricer is a ricer, useless mods that have zero affect on performance but are designed to make you think the car is fast

Well this particular car was not to gross looking. I think some of these guys are actually laying off the wackey outer cosmetics.

As for the race it went side by side till slow traffic was ahead in my lane. I have enough sense to not kill myself or anyone else on a half baked rice race anyway.

Anyway it is FUNNY to hear about this blow off valve

littlesixsteve, are you saying after your 2300+ plus posts over the past few years you have never heard of a BOV, or heard what an import car sounds like in the hundreds of vids out thre, when it shifts gears (manual) and has a turbo????

i guess stranger things could happen....
