well i had my car on the lift and decided to check my block number and if memory serves me well from what i have read some place that the last 3 numbers should be 329. but when i checked the block it has 290 on it instead. my concern is that if its not correct do i have the correct heads, cam, etc. and does anyone know what car this block came from? or is it correct? where are the casting numbers on the heads and what should they be? any help would be greatly apprecated. thanks

for the heads, the numbers should end in 8445, and they would be under the valve covers. Not sure about the block.

I had the same question on my 85GN I have a 140 block which is for a regal. My correct block is a 339 which they used on both the regal and the Turbo T. I don't think there is any real difference. The 1984 turbo T used a 040 and 603 block. The regal used a 290, 601 and an 040 block. Check out GNTTYpe.org under Hot Air. It should help. Brad

ok according to GNTTYPE.ORG they said that The cylinder heads are casting number 8445 that can be found on nearly any RWD 3.8L engine. so chances are the heads are correct. I couldn't find any info about other blocks except the turbo blocks(109, 329). well i guess if it really doesn't matter what block and every thing is running fine than im ok. correct? my car runs good so i shouldn't worry then, right? thanks for all the help.
