I bought this car and at one time the trunk lid was replaced. I found this out because I had a buddy order me a can of spray paint for my fillers. Well, he called me when it showed up and the paint code is for a brown car. I peeled the RPO sticker back a little and yep, brown under there. I didnt pay attention that the VIN didnt match! Anyways, its an 85. What is the paint code???? Thanks guys! -------Jeremy

Sounds like something I'd do

Anyway I don't know the 1985 numbers (the same?) but the two tone metallic gray/over silver has:

UWA8573
LWA8535

U = upper and L = lower is my guess .... the paint shop should be able to check the numbers. Or maybe a friendly Buick dealer would help.

Nice looking car Jeremy! I always wanted to widen a set of steel wheels for some big rubber to put on the back of Nanc's 87 - then slap the wire caps back on.

HTH and take care.

Thanks Bob! Yeah this is going to eventually be my GN clone V8 car but for now I just want to make it look nice and my buddy can get mixed paint in the spray can for $10 so you cant beat that!

Maybe I can be of assistance

 Been down this road before. Here's an option that worked for me. I went to arnold's motor supply, they supply a local gm dealership with paint. I'm sure you have one of these or similar in davenport. They should have a book there you can go through that has color samples in it for each year and color. It's like looking at paint samples at menards. they even had spoiler colors adn wheel color listed. This was for my camaro. One thing I have found is that not everybody makes their own color. The color that was on my camaro (midnight metallic blue I think it was called-very rare, 86 only) was also used on a mercedes or some foreign crap like that. Nice car. Some 15x8 buick ralleys from wheel vintiques would look nice!

OK well a little step forward..... I looked at the wkndow sticker again and found "12L Silver" so at least I know it's not the med grey metallic. Now I just need the actuall paint code.

I cant say what all the alphabetic attachments mean but...

I'm just trying to figure along with you here. I don't know if this helps?

On our D84 car .... The two lowest numbers that appear on the trunk sticker are 12L & 15A among the option codes and the paint numbers are as above. I am thinking those are the Med Metallic Gray (15) and Metallic Silver (12). When Dan painted the car he used the paint numbers (wa8535 etc) on the bottom line of the sticker to formulate the paints.

So.. How about this? I think its - WA8535 (the lower on our car)

Did you look at the scrolling paint color codes (12L etc.) here:

Buick Turbo Regal Option Codes (Regular Production Options - RPO)

12 appears in 1987, 86, and 85.

12L might mean lower as your car has a vinyl landau, another number, which would be upper ('U' or 'A' in color maybe)
Wahdayathink?

wa8535 seems to be what we are looking for then?? The WA numbers are what the paint shops use to mix the colors. I did look at the gnttype.org listings but really they arent much help to find the actuall paint codes. I should just leave the filler fiberglass color cause the car is going to be black anyways. All of my buddies think I should keep the vinyl top and leave it silver but I think I like the GN look. I have never been much of a chrome guy.

I beg to disagree my monochromatic friend:biggrin: Nothing wrong with some color and chrome. I'd love to find a base regal turbo car with chrome. It would make a great driver and body adn trim parts would be that much cheaper if something happened. STEALTHY TOO:cool:

The letter L does mean lower. On monotone cars there should be a L code and a U code and those should be the same number.

On 2-tone cars there should also be a 3rd code ending with the letter M for middle.

On vinyl top cars the number ending with the letter T is your vinyl top color.

And the code ending with the letter Q is you body side molding color code.

If you have accent stripes than that code will end with the letter A.
