POS pro-streeted Superbird with gigantic tires and all jacked up. Ran like pooh at NED and was never to be seen again (thankfully).

He would show up every couple of years

....ummm the rarest I saw was a real 427 Cobra ... guy was wacked !!! ohh ya it was me :p hmmm along with a 1970 Mustang Mach 1 Cobra Jet ... and now it do the same with Buicks and TTAs

Did he ever get to run right? Steve said it ran another time but I don't remember that, I'm getting old

orbit orange was a 1970 ONLY color. I think you mean Caursel red..

I would have to say I saw for many years a 69 Orbit orange Judge sitting in weeds up to the fenders in Bow NH at some hillbillys house. The car mysteriously vanished after a few years of sitting there. I only hope someone restored it.

Ya I think it was a 70. Paint was pretty far gone anyway.

My Brother & friends bought a '69 GTO Ram Air IV. The original 400 cid motor had this weird oil pressure fluctuation. A while later, the timing chain broke, so they tow it home & replaced it. It then restarted & ran for a minute, and froze up. So, pull the engine out. Found the crank had broke!

So, they were able to find a station wagon Pontiac 455, where it had been drilled at the factory for 4 bolts, but they put in 2 bolt main bearing caps.

Meanwhile, my Brother was having trouble with the carb & Saginaw 4 on his "442" (not a true 442, just some parts from it instyalled), so he swapped the carbs, and the Muncie for a Saginaw. Eventually, they sold the goat.

So, someone got stuck with a GTO with a 442 Qjet carb, 400 cid Ram Air IV heads, an under cammed 455 block, and a medium-at-best-duty Saginaw 4 speed. Forget matching VIN & part numers! The interior was OK, but I'm not sure how long that Saginaw would last with a 455.

It's Funny, the 69 GTO I saw was Orange and Iv'e seen many other Orange 69 Goats (I even had a poster of an Orange 69 Judge). Maybe that's what they called "Caursal Red"?

This is Carousel Red (it's really like a reddish orange)

Sounds about like Rob Crissafulli who turned a real TTA with like 4k miles on it into tube chassis prostreet car. The only thing original about it once he was done was that it was white and had turbos. Neat car but I don't understand doing that to a rare car when a GTA would have worked just as good.

A guy here locally has 2 70 Stage 1 GSs. One is an automatic, the other is a 4 speed. A friend of mine tried to lift the hood on the automatic, and it buckled in half from being so rusty. That was some 15 years ago. The 4 speed car seemed to be all there. At some point, it had one of the quarter panels replaced with pieces from a 4 door. This is all from memory, but I know he still has both cars. I could have bought the 4 speed car about 12 years ago for $2500, but I couldn't afford it back then. If I can remember right, both cars are numbers matching, and he won't part with either one.

Its a damn shame :(

i knew a guy who had a 70 GSX growing in the weeds behind his barn. You V8 guys might know Bruce Kent who ended up buying it and dropping the Kenne Bell twin supercharged 455 in it. Same guy had a 70 GS Stage1 that was obliterated by an ax (yes, there were big gashes all over the body)
Another guy picked that one up and did an amazing job restoring it.

Other than those I think my GN is the most neglected that I know of. I got it in College and it was rough then. Since that time I have been low on cash due to bad jobs. 3 years ago I landed a good job and ended up buying a house and now my wife and I have a son. Needless to say, the GN is a long ways away from any TLC. :(

Didn't Buddy Cox's GNX burn to a complete loss after a run? I vagely remember something about it having a fuel fire that took the whole car.

I ran my dad 70 LS6 chevelle into the side of a bridge at about 50-60mph when I was 17 and buckeled the whole car hard doors back even bent the roof and poped the rear glass. Needless to say it was beyond repair. Oh yeah and I was not suppose to be driving it EVER and they were at the ocean. It was totaly out of a movie it seemed. If not for my grandfather reminding my dad he flipped his 55 belair over (not suppose to be driving it ither :D ) I think I would have been beat to death. WOW now it's 11 years later and he knows what the car is worth if it were still around  I just get this look whenever someone brings it up. At least he still has the driveline. Some day I have to buy him another 70 and install this stuff for him.

There's a guy down the street from me back home that has a '60 Vette in his garage/garbage room. There are boxes stacked up all around it, and there's on the convertible top which is putting a nice big rip in it. At first I thought that it was a light brown color but upon further inspection, it is actually BLACK! It's a total shame. One day I stopped and asked him about selling it and he said he was going to "fix it up" when his kids get out of college. He just about finished that sentence when one of his kids who couldn't be much older than ten came running around the corner of his house. :frown: Don't worry gents, I'm keep'n an eye on it.

Man I think if I were your dad I would have a hard time not hitting you as hard as I could everytime I saw you (mainly because the 1970 LS6 Chevelle has been my favorite car since I was about 6). But hey we all make mistakes though, and it's a nice idea to try to build a car similar to what he had.
