I was wondering what people had to say about remanufactured engines. Primarly recon. What luck has someone had who actually has used one for a TR application?

You mean like Jasper remans? They are probably pretty hard to find with all the correct parts, (Block, crank etc)..

*I* wouldn't trust one for my TR. :D

I have a recon engine in my n/a regal, with no problems I mean NO problems, except from routine maintenance...until Friday...blown headgasket... :( Engine has 60K on it, and I can DEFINATLY say that I have probably abused the hell out of it...

Also, dad's van (Ford 1 ton) has a recon in it, and ditto about the results...no problems at all...strong engines, but can't help ya about the TR's...

I don't know:confused: But if you buy a reman'd engine make sure it has a rolled fillet turbo crankshaft not turned more than 10/10.;)

i have a jasper motor with a little over 30,000 on it and no problems yet, knock on wood.:D

$1500 for an 86/87 Turbo long block is a great price if the quality is there.

How hard would it be to put an 87 GN motor in my Chevy to swap with my 305? Would my TH-350 work with the motor? Would it be mandentory to buy and Intercooler? It would be pretty cool to have a 3.8 in my Nova.

You would have to get a computer to run it, diifernet fuel pumps, yes use a intercooler, or you can get a pre-85 TR 3.8, fabricate motor mounts, im not sure but a 200r4 may work with your crossmember, not a 700, and you could use the TH-350, but it would run like crap. People have put them in different cars, from mustangs to first gen camaros, so it can be done.

I didnt find out much about the Recon engine when i called them, he gave me some part numbers for the crank, but my dumba$$ lost them, im going to try and find another number with more technical service. He suggested to me that I can get a custom made engine, made to my specs, but that still didnt answer my question about what all was in then engine.
