what laptop and supporting software to buy?

I have just gotten DS 1.51 for my Birthday but the Wife won't let me use her laptop since it is her companies!?!
I plan to buy Turbo Six Tuner in the future.
My question is what Laptop does everyone recommend and what supporting software? I don't want to spend a lot of $$$$, yet I want to get enough to run these programs without any problems or runout of memory. I am considering going to a local computer store to get a used one, but I need to know what to tell the sales guy .
