Been looking at filters for the oil supply for my new bb turbo. What micron rating should I go for. Don't want to go with the Turbo Saver route, got enough plumbing going on as it is. I am currently running an Earls filter before the turbo but it is not much more than a mesh screen. I have found a few different sources for a different filter but the micron ratings are all over the place.

I use a Magnefine -6AN billet cartridge which has a small filter in it with a magnet.

Sub micron stuff sticks to the magnet.

So they say. ;)

It wasn't cheap, new cartridges are around $12 each and I put them in every 3 oil changes or 10K or so.

I'd want at least typical oil filter micron range filtering.

I would be weary of those setups with turbo protection. Think about it...it takes VERY little debris to restrict your lube supply to the turbo with the smaller inline setup.
Your strictly reliant upon that small filter (media size) to protect your turbo when in a situation that will send lots of debris into the lube circuits that lil filter will clog up when compared to the turbosaver. And that is the intent to filter the oil to the turbo.
The turbosaver has so much more "Buffer" (way more media surface area) if you will as far as the elements ability to trap the debris and filter and still flow and keep the turbo..well..saved.
I know you spoke of the plumbing issue but hey protection is worth it?

For me i did notice cleaner oil and 2 -3 psi increase when going to the turbo saver.

Whena cam wipes a lobe/bearing spins or a similar situation look at how much metal is in the oil.
