I've recently switched from Mobil 1 10w30 to Valvoline VR1. My car has always "seeped" oil with the synthetic and I've always added ZDDP per oil change. Valvoline claims to have high zinc added and is not a synthetic.
Since it is hott in Texas I use 3 qts of 10w30 and 2 quarts of 20w50. So far car does not seep oil, fingers crossed.
