I put regular 80-90 in and added GM posi additive JMO. Some guys use royal purple.

Your rear should be a 8.5" 10 bolt.

Any brand will do I suppose, Just look for 80-90w gear lube, and GM posi addative (should be in a tube)

you can use lucas oil rear lube. no need to use the additive in it. it's formulated for use in positraction rears

I worked for an axle manufacturer (albeit Ford). You can use any high quality axle lube. It should meet API GL-5 spec for lubrication. Standard lube will work well. Synthetic lube works well with reduced friction (better fuel mileage, MAYBE more power to the wheels). Ford uses synthetic fluid as factory fill in all of their rear wheel drive applications.

If you have limited slip differential, use limited slip addidtive from GM or Ford. I'm not sure if any other additive brands are as good.

The additive is some nasty stuff. I read the MSDS. We soaked clutches in 100 gallon tanks prior to assmebling limited slip differentials. Smelled nasty, too.
