i have always tried to stay with AC delco but was told by the guy who works on my car that the autolites are better. i disregarded his advice and still put in the AC delco's but when he replaced that piston he put in autolites. i just wanted to know if anyone knows why? i was considering putting in a hotter plug but was told not to. So talk to me guys, i read up on the spring cleaning and it calls for delco's but why would my mechanic go with autolites. and just to let you know he's not some shade tree mechanic who has to get his tools out of pawn to fix your car but a well known buick turbo guy in my area.

I couldn't tell you why he installed the Autolites over the AC Delco other than personal choice.

I've used many different brands of plugs over the years,i've owned a turbo regal since 1988 and never noticed any improvement from one brand over the other.

I rarely ever leave my plugs in for more than 3 months, i take them out to atleast inspect them regardless of the mileage.

Here are some of the brands i've used and all worked well.

These plugs i used on GN1 aluminum heads
Autolite 103,104
NGK TR5,TR6
NGK Iridium

These plugs i used on stock heads
Autolite
Autolite Platnum
AC Delco
Splitfire
Champion
Bosch

wow

just like opinions i guess brands and types ran in cars along with gapping depends on person. thanks for the input guys, i was told to run autolites gapped at @ 32 even though the factory suggest 35 if i remember correctly. guess it runs hotter which was answered when i 1st joined the board and asked.

Nope actually colder plugs (to prevent detonation) and the tight gap prevents the spark from blowing out with higher boost levels.... Hth

must be getting a younger crowd in here. not to long ago someone would have chastised you for posting this in the wrong place and you wouldn't get any replies
