dont know what to put on the extra set of stock T wheels, or should i get them widend to 8''? looking for 12.00 et

I'm running BFG Drag Radials 235 60's on my T Type Rims. Been 12.37 with them. The tires look small on the car, and to be honest I think the car will go faster with a taller tire. Hopefully someone will post running 275 60's on the T Type rim.

thanks guys im getting a set of wheels recoated at brians, gbodypart.com he asked if i wanted to get em stretched but if i can hold the car down on 7s ill leave it alone..

I have seen pics of BFGs DRs on a T rim and it didnt appear that any trimming was needed. I will know soon enough when i throw a set on the T Type.

Thanks, let me know how they work for you!

I have 275-60-15 MT ET Street Radials on my stock T Type wheels and they don't rub anywhere. I'm also using aluminum drums.

thanks men for all the info...im trying to be careful on all the little things..this car is good one ..it should be in hemmings muscle machine soon so i want it all as good as it can be ...87we4...thanks jeff

The 60's work great on stock T wheels.

Here are some pictures of BFG's 275/60's:

quarter view

No mods required at all, but Al brake drums will reduce frame rubbing in hard turns.

Nice rubberized rock chip protection on the quarters!:D

Louie,

Do you have to roll the lip?

I had 275/60's and they didn't rub on the lips, however they did rub on the inside. I've got a WE4, so I would ASSume I have the aluminum brake drums. Couldn't tell you for sure.

You only got AL brake drums when you DIDN'T get a G80 Positraction (or bought a GNX).

All G80 TR's (except for GNX) had Iron drums from the factory.

Interesting, I thought I had heard a while ago that the majority of the WE4 cars had the AL drums which is where it got a portion of its weight savings (included bumper supports, rims, etc). I stand corrected. :)

Can you still get aluminum drums? If they help with keeping the rubbing down it would be good to have them.

Any risks with using them?

Yup, yup and yup!

They come up for sale all the time here and on EBay. They are good to have to move the tires out a bit away from the frame.

There are risks to using them. If you launch hard off the foot brake you can crack them...but they sure are lighter than the stock cast iron drums.
