The 28x9s should be enough to get you into the high 1.4 60fts and will probably be fine on a 10sec car or slower. With the 10.5s you need to worry about clearances and making sure you have the right backspacing on the rims, etc. Check out the pic on post #27 in my thread here. 28x9 ET Drags at 14psi, both wheels hanging.
I ran the 28x9 MT ET Drag, I trapped 120-125 lots of times on that tire, never spun off the foot brake at the track. It could spin em barely on the street from a stop, never from a roll.
