I say you've got a blue, 30-tooth 2004R driven gear, GM part #561035. :)

is that the correct one for a GN? because the one that disappeared from my car was light blue...

thanks

That looks like a TH350 gear w/about 22T to me. A light blue 30T
for a 200-4r has much smaller teeth. Its GM part # is 25524925.
This number is from GM's 1986 SPEEDO GEAR USAGE CHART for
"G" CAR, MW9 transmission. :)

thats what i thought, i figured i was just some sort or 'tard and couldnt count to 30. and i could have sworn that the speedo gear that i lost was more of a baby blue...

what would happen if i did use this gear? would it work? would it make the speedo fast? or slow?

thanks

Using it could ruin the gear on the governor. If you are lucky the
diameter will be too small for the teeth to engage. I think I only paid $5 or $6 for my driven gear from GM. :)

Well good thing he's a fellow g-body guy

I have bought a few from local trans supply companies for about $5 each
in ac delco bags .

is it possible to leave the speedo gear out for a couple days? because i dont think this is the right speedo gear, so monday i was going to go to a transmission shop and see if i can find the correct gear. so i guess what i am asking is can i plug the speedo in but leave the gear out so i can atleast have a working car for the next couple days? or will it interfer with the shifting of the transmission? will it throw any codes or anything?

thanks

a friend of mine has a spare 200-4R speed gear... but it is black... 27 teeth, over the stock 30 teeth... what would this do to the speedometer? thanks

I think it will read faster .
But at least it will allow you to drive your car.:)

561035 30T gear

www.gmpartsdirect.com lists that 30T gear for only $5.50!
Their price is only $ 3.14! That parts guy must be crazy!! Try another dealer. The part #561035 which MeanBuicks listed is on the AC Delco bag that mine came in. The 27T gear should make your speedo read a few MPH faster than your actual speed if it is compatible with your drive gear. :)
